Charles Maker Obituary

Charles "Chuck" Maker, 71, a Colorado Springs resident since 1971, passed away January 27, 2007, in Colorado Springs. Charles Edwin Maker was born August 3, 1935 in Berkley, California to Dan and Lucile Maker. He attended schools in California and joined the Air Force in 1953 working as a Military Policeman at Edwards Air Force, California, and then later moved into the veterinary field. On October 13, 1956 Chuck married Bea Spitzley of Fowler, Michigan and spent 20 years in the Air Force. He retired in Colorado Springs and went to work for King Soopers as a pharmacy technician for the next 17 years. He then went to work part-time for National and Hertz car rental companies and enjoyed volunteering at the Peterson Air Force Base Pharmacy. Chuck loved his wife and family tremendously. He enjoyed camping and travel, but the trip he talked most about was the 50th Anniversary vacation to Hawaii he took with Bea last October. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Chuck is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bea; 3 daughters: Debbie (husband, Lane) Carter of Simla; Cindy Maker of California; Tina Duran of Colorado Springs and 1 son, Bill Maker of California, and 8 grandchildren: Kaley Carter, Kelsey Carter, Jessica (husband, Christopher) Behnke, Rhonda (husband, Antonio) Stephens, Megan Duran, Brandon Duran, Gina Maker, Brian Maker, and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers: Larry (wife, Dee) Maker of California and Mike (wife, Martha) Maker of Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry Maker. A Celebration of Chuck's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2007, at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel of Roses. A reception will follow at The Retired Enlisted Association, 834 Emory Circle. Dear Bea and Family,
Our hearts go out to you during this time of sadness and in the days ahead.
We loved the wonderful times we
had with you and Chuck. He was
always happy and so good natured.
We had so many laughs and such
fun with both of you and anyone
else who was along. We'll never
forget those visits.
Chuck never let any obstacles stand
in his way. As soon as he was able
he would jump right back into his
regular routine. He so loved you
Bea, and your dear family, as you
all loved him. That love will
continue forever. The beautiful
memories of the years you had together will help you to heal.
Please know that we loved Chuck and
we love you. Our thoughts and
prayers are with you now and always.
All our love and deepest sympathy,
Ida and Mel

Hold on to all of the wonderful memories and ask God to give you the strength you need now and in the days ahead. Aunt Bea-I was packing my 1960 Christmas Calendar away that you sent to me and cried for you and my Uncle Chuck. All our love, Jim and Sandy

Chuck was a coworker at Hertz and was always there when I came back from Denver. As a fellow military retiree we always had plenty to talk about. He was a real gentleman and will be greatly missed.

To Maker Family I am so sorry for you loss; I need to let you know, the employees at Hertz did a great job tending to your father, as did CSFD ENG 11 and AMR Paramedic.
Your dad is a good man; he always treated people with respect and greeted them with firm handshake and a smile, these are qualities seldom found in society today. My GOD be with all of you in your time of need.
