Charles T. Smith (Chuck) was born in Carbondale, Illinois, August 24, 1930. He went to be with the Lord July 8, 2022. He was the son of a Baptist minister, Dr. Paul Charles Smith and homemaker mother, Angie Smith. He was the youngest of four siblings Lois Lee Keller, Mary Evelyn Plain, and brother Paul Smith, who are all together now with the Lord.
He graduated from Carbondale High school where he played football and started boxing as a Golden Gloves boxer. He went to The University of Illinois for two years before enlisting in the United States Airforce serving during the Korean War. After the war in 1960, he founded the Electronics Metal Finishing Corporation (EMF) in Danbury, CT. In 1974, he moved the business to Oak Ridge, TN to serve the nuclear industry. He relocated EMF on Janitell Road, Colorado Springs, CO in 1980.
Chuck along with his loving wife Brenda served in their beloved Colorado Springs community for many decades. Chuck was involved as an active member of First Presbyterian Church. He served on many city and community boards throughout his life. He also served on the board of United Bank and Taylor University. He enjoyed the outdoors playing tennis, skiing, bow hunting and fishing.
Chuck never met anyone he didn't like and was friend to all. His family and friends will remember his kindness and his laugh as he loved to tease people.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Brenda J. Smith, and his four children from a previous marriage, Karen (Stephen) Hanley of Ohio, Paul (Sandra) Smith of California, David (Karen) Smith of California and Eric (Tecia) Smith of Florida. Additionally, Chuck is survived by 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
The Celebration of Life will be at First Presbyterian Church, 219 E. Bijou Street on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to First Presbyterian Church.

Brenda I just learned that Chuck passed away. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I have such fond memories of Chuck's wonderful sense of humor, and love teasing him by sitting in "his" seat at church. Love to you during this time.

We are so sorry for your loss Brenda and family. I remember Chuck would always stop his car, say hello and a fun comment when I would walk around your house. It is one of my favorite memories of my walks! May God be with your family in the days ahead.

My sympathy to the Smith family. Chuck gave me my first real job and was my mentor and friend. Because of his encouragement and support I was able to enjoy a 40 year career in the field of electroplating. He was a friend and I enjoyed the many trips he provide for our youth group as teenagers and later as adults.
