Charles H. Stoopes
1918 - 2018
Charles H. Stoopes, of Colorado Springs passed away on January 1, 2018. He was born July 21, 1918 in Wilmington, Delaware.
Mr. Stoopes served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and was stationed in Kunming, China. He was in the World War II CBI Theater with the 308th Bombardment Group. His duties were in aircraft engine maintenance and the photo lab under General Chennault and the Flying Tigers. Charles also worked in Civil Service at NORAD in Cheyenne Mountain and was the Manager of the Opto Electrical Shop before retiring. He had lived in Colorado Springs since 1961.
Mr. Stoopes is survived by his wife Marjorie; son Craig Charles (Matthew Howard) Stoopes of Little Rock, Arkansas; daughter Laurie Ann (Jerry) Jones of Montrose, Colorado; and granddaughter Katie Jones of Friday Harbor, Washington.
Services will be private following cremation.

Thank you Robert, dad loved working at NORAD and all his mechanical tasks he had to keep up with. He was always happy with a tool in his hand fixing something. Laurie (daughter)

I worked with Charles "Chick" Stoopes for over 20 years in the Cheyenne Mountain Complex. I am deeply saddened by the news of your loss. My most sincere condolences.
