CHARLIE HOLT, SR.

Charlie Holt, Sr, 78, passed away on August 2, 2018. He had been a resident of Colorado Springs since 1975 when he was transferred to Ft. Carson.
Charlie was born on February 12, 1940 to Isaiah Holt, Sr and Classie (Jordan) Holt in Juliette, GA. On December 5, 1981 he married Margaret "Marty" Ramsey.
Charlie loved to cook and bake for his family and friends. He enjoyed watching old Japanese Samurai movies on Saturday mornings and reading both mystery and western novels. In recent years he discovered the joys of exploring America's National Parks.
Charlie enlisted in the US Army in 1957 and in October 1969 he went to OCS and became an infantry officer serving at various locations including three tours in Vietnam. After retiring in 1979 Charlie joined Marty working in the moving industry. From 1993 to 2003 they successfully operated their own company, Triple H Moving. After attempting to retire he went to work for an organization committed to supporting adults with developmental disabilities. Over the years Charlie volunteered at various charitable agencies.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Marty; his children: Nicole Y. Holt of Colorado Springs, Charlie Holt, Jr of Phoenix; and Devery R. Banks (Jeremy) of Aurora; and his two grandsons: Saliou H. Mbengue and Desmond C. Banks. He was preceded in death by his mother, Classie (Jordan) Holt Brown of Detroit, MI; his brother, Isaiah Holt, Jr of Park Forest, IL; and his oldest daughter, Charlitha L. Holt-Mbengue of Detroit, MI.
The funeral will be held Friday, August 10, 2018 with the viewing at 1:00 and services at 2:00 at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910. The service will include full military honors. Interment will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlie's name may be made to the Army Emergency Relief (aerhq.org), 866-878-6378. Please pick Ft. Carson as your Section selection.

Charlie, I'll always miss you, with incredible memories of you as my commanding officer for a year. Then, we ran into each other constantly, at stores and restaurants. I'll see you on the other side, when I get home my friend. I'll never forget what an amazing influence you had on me. I hope God will tell you this. You got me through one of the most difficult times in my life. You made me stronger. Thank you Sir.

I just saw this now. Captain Holt was my Commanding Officer when I was stationed at Fort Carson and I truly respected him and his guidance when I was in the Army. He had a kind heart. Rest in peace and see you in God's home

As my commanding officer and friend. Although he had a commanding presence, there was such kindness and gentle caring about him as well. He has always been someone I think of as having the biggest influence on my life in the military. I felt encouraged each time I saw him. I'm so glad he was part of my life, and will look forward to our time in eternity, serving God.

Marty & Family, I had a dream about Captain Holt Last night and decided to look for him online. I'm so sorry to hear of Captain Holt's passing. He had such an incredible influence on my life as my Commanding officer at Fort Carson and as a friend. Over the years we would always run into each other and catch up. He got me through one of the most difficult chapters in my life I will never forget Him. I will look forward to seeing him again, when God calls me home.

I enjoyed working with Charlie when he was working in the field supporting individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities. He was a kind, straightforward, and a patient man that did an amazing job! You will be missed Charlie!
