Charlotte Bowman Obituary

Charlotte M. Bowman, 89, Normal, IL, formerly of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away at 1:20 a.m. Sunday (Jan. 26, 2009) in Normal. Her funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Fairway Knolls Church of the Nazarene, 610 IAA Drive, Bloomington, IL. The Rev. Tim George will officiate. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Fairway Knolls Church of the Nazarene, 610 IAA Drive, Bloomington, IL 61701; or the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60601-7633 Born June 23, 1919, in Pittsburgh, PA, she married Clarence Bowman on Feb. 16, 1942. He survives. Following their marriage, they lived in Boston, MA, Mansfield, OH, Lake Lure, NC, Charleston, WV, and Colorado Springs, CO. At Church of the Nazarene seminaries in North Carolina and West Virginia, Charlotte served as a typing instructor during Clarence's tenure as a faculty member. In Charleston, WV, she was employed as a secretary at the state capitol. When Clarence was transferred to the Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte served the institution as the president's secretary. Prior to her retirement in 1987, she was employed as school secretary for Bricker Elementary in Colorado Springs. Charlotte was preceded in death by an infant daughter, her sister, Naomi (Moreland) Whiteside, Colorado Springs, CO, and two brothers, David Moreland, Pittsburgh, PA, and Sherman Moreland, Nashville, TN. Surviving are two sons, Al (Linda) Bowman, Normal, IL, and Ed (Lorraine) Bowman, Flossmoor, IL; four grandchildren, Laura and Natalie Bowman, Normal, Edward J. (Donna) Bowman, Naples, Italy, and Camille (Bowman) Wright, Park Forest, IL. Also surviving are three great grandchildren, Akelia P. (Wright) Russell, Demetrius E. Wright and Jordan J. Thompson, and a large number of nieces and nephews. Charlotte was a musician and served as the pianist for the West Side Church of the Nazarene in Charleston, WV for many years. She was a talented seamstress and doll maker, and her rendition of lemon meringue pie was the perfect combination of flavor and texture. She lived a happy and fulfilling life surrounded by a loving family. To the Bowman Family:
