Charlotte Draeger Obituary

Draeger
Charlotte Lee (Whiteaker) Draeger
Aug. 28, 1942 - Nov. 15, 2017
Charlotte Lee (Whiteaker) Draeger was born on August 28th 1942 in Plano, Texas to Ruby Johnson and Clifford Mears. She grew up in Pueblo, Colorado and spent her entire adult life in Colorado Springs.
She is survived by her husband Jack W. Draeger, her daughter Tamara (Scott), son George (Rae), stepdaughter Kim (Ara), stepson Lee (Shannon), and son-in-law Kenny. She is also survived by grandchildren, Kevin, Jennifer, Saige, Travis, Laura, and great-grandchildren Tyler, Lily, Benjamin, and Dillin. We would also like to note a special word for lifelong friend, Mary.
Her parents, sister Jean, her son Russell, and beloved daughter Cathy, precede Charlotte in death.
Over her 40-year career as a registered nurse, Charlotte touched the lives of countless people. Working in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and home health agencies; Charlotte was a natural caregiver who was loving, compassionate, and steadfast in her commitment to help all in need. She was the type of person that would have worked forever if her health had allowed it.
Thank you to the staff at Brookdale at Bear Creek and Interim Hospice for their loving care and kindness.
The memorial service will be held Sunday December 10th @ 1:00pm at the Fraternal Order of Eagles at 1050 S 21st St, Colorado Springs, CO 80904 (719) 632-1934.

My friend, Charlatte'. Yep. That's what I called you. No words, my friend. Your mentorship has been a treasure that keeps on giving, but your friendship was golden sunshine on any given day. You could make me laugh in the most difficult situation. I always trusted you and you always made me feel safe. You are one of the strongest people I will ever know. I will so miss your raucous, quick wit, your protective, generous heart, and your absolute genius. Of course, I will have truly failed you if I don't mention that sour cream coffee cake and how I would have half of it eaten before I got it home. It's going to be hard to imagine this old world without you, sweet Charlotte. I hope I can even modestly perpetuate your example of excellence, and make it a little more joyful by sprinkling in a little belly laughter along the way. I love you, Sister.

So surprised to read of Charlottes passing and so sorry for your loss. I have known her since we were all young nurses at Penrose and later at her time with RN's on Call. What a sweet, wonderful woman who loved her family beyond everything else.
