Charlotte Mueller Obituary

Charlotte Scott Mueller, long-time resident of Colorado Springs, passed away on September 30, 2005 after courageously battling breast cancer for the past 18 months. Surrounded by family and friends she passed peacefully from this life. Charlotte was born in Williamson West Virginia on October 22, 1948, the youngest of three children and grew up in Glenalum, West Virginia. She attended Gilbert High School and graduated from Williamson High School in 1966. She attended West Virginia University, graduating in 1970 with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught school in Williamson while her husband was serving in Thailand. As an Air Force wife for nearly 35 years, she guided her family through many assignments to include: Vandenberg AFB, CA; Goose Air Base, Labrador; Utapao Air Base, Thailand; Maxwell AFB, Alabama; Columbus, Ohio; Stuttgart, Germany and through several tours at the Air Force Academy. She often worked as a substitute teacher and as a part-time test administrator at several Base Education Offices. Charlotte is survived by her husband, Colonel Gunther Mueller; her son, Scott Mueller of Colorado Springs; her daughter, Catherine Bernard; grandson, Mason Bernard (3); granddaughter, Sydnie Charlotte Bernard (1) of Aurora Colorado; and her brother, Jack Scott, of Fernandina Beach, Florida. She will be remembered as a loving, caring wife, devoted mother and true friend, whose selfless devotion to family and friends was an inspiration to all who knew her. Charlotte's remarkable courage in the face of often unbearable adversity over the past two years revealed the phenomenal strength of character that guided her entire life. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Charlotte Mueller's name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 3rd at 10:00 a.m. in the Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel. Interment will follow at the Air Force Academy Cemetery. The Susan G. I have very fond memories of Charlotte growing up in Glen Alum. I was a friend of her sister Sarah and spent a lot of time in the Scott home. I see she carried that wonderful smile all through her life. My deepest sympathy for her loving family and brother Jack

Dear Gunther and Family,

I was saddened to learn of Charlotte's death in the Williamson Daily News. I knew Charlotte from birth in Thacker Mines, WV and then in Glen Alum, WV where I worked with her father in the mine offices. She was such a sweet and dear young person. My deepest sympathy and prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Gunther, Catherine and Scott.

We are so very sorry about Charlotte's passing. We had the privilege of knowing her for over 30 years. Her kindness and smile along with her generosity always impressed us. We will miss her, but she will live in our memory forever, what a great Lady.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this most difficult time.

I met Charlotte the first day of first grade. We were inseparable for the next 7 years. There was rarely a day we were not together. My family moved away from Glen Alum, and Charlotte and I visited each other until we were in high school. She was a good friend, and the personality and the tremendous smile described by those who knew here later in life were the same things I remember about her when we were children and best friends. She was completely unselfish and one of the kindest people I have ever met. I often thought about her and wondered where she was. It does not surprise me that so many speak of her in loving, caring terms.

Dear Mueller Family,

I am so sorry to hear about Mrs. Mueller's passing. I have such wonderful memories of her from the summer I practically lived at your house in middle school! She was such a kind, funny, and vibrant woman. I will always remember her beautiful smile and obsession with AFA football! My thoughts are with your family during this difficult time.

All the best,

The Mueller family was a family every teacher wished to see cross the threshold of her/his Patch Barracks, Stuttgart, Germany classroom. What a joy working with Scott in the third grade and observing his wonderful personality, a tribute to his delightful parents! Charlotte embodied all the characteristics of a loving parent, wise teacher and kind lady. Charlotte dearly loved her family, education and life, giving unselfishly to all. Her smile and laughter drew children and adults into her world. What a fine place to be! We were all blessed by her presence and will continue to be blessed by her memory. Scott, and the entire Mueller family, you will remain in my prayers. Peace be with you always. God Bless and keep you.

My sympathies to the family! My memories of Mrs. Mueller go back about 20 years when Scott was in my second grade classroom at Patch Elementary in Germany! She had a smile on her face, wonderful supportive attitude to help and had a great 7 year old! I remember her taking time to talk with me and giving me ideas on how to adjust to life overseas. Sounds like the giving attitude remained the same. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

In Sympathy,

It's hard to imagine that 20+ years have passed since Charlotte and Gunther were stationed with us at Patch Barracks in Germany. Scott was a second grader then; I remember him well. Even after all this time, Charlotte's kindness and her zest for life are still embedded in my memories of her. I am sure that her life touched all who knew her. I am so sorry to hear of her passing and your loss. Please know that your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
