Charlotte Oleyar Obituary

December 1, 1922 - November 18, 2007 Charlotte Oleyar, age 84, went home to be the Lord on November 18, following a lengthy illness in a Colorado Springs nursing home. Born in Buffalo, New York, and one of 8 children, she was intensely proud of her rich Hungarian heritage - an appreciation which she passed on to her own children. She worked for years for the U.S. Postal Service in Washington, D.C. and ultimately became a U.S. Post Office Hearing Officer/Investigator. Shortly after the death of her husband in 1987 Charlotte moved to Colorado Springs to be near her two children. Here she was active in her local church where her great joys included serving the Lord, encouraging others, and singing/listening to music - particularly the old Christian hymns. Her other great joy was her family to whom she showed great love, interest, and generosity of spirit. Mom was a remarkable woman who will be greatly missed, but who lived a rich life and is now at peace. For that we are most grateful. Charlotte is survived by her son, Claude Oleyar, and his wife, Cheryl; her daughter, Madeleine Lockhart, and her husband, Daniel; by her only granddaughter, Christina Crippen, and her husband, Eric; and by her two great grandchildren, Baley and Isabella Crippen. Christie and Eric are expecting their third child, a son, any day now. Charlotte is also survived by her twin sisters, Anne Massey and Emma Newhard, as well by as her only brother, Joseph Mandly. We will celebrate our Mother and her life on December 1 at the Advantage Chapel of Memories, 829 South Hancock, Colorado Springs, CO 80903. Viewing will be at 9:30am with the Memorial Service to follow at 10:00. She will be laid to rest at the Evergreen Cemetery.
