I attend church with McCoy's father, Kevin Hawkins. We have been praying for Cheryl for many months. I'm very saddened to hear of her passing. I myself lost a daughter to cancer 4 years ago. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Cheryl.

Cheryl was the mother of our son McCoy. When he was young, I used to admire the time and attention she gave him. He will grow up to be a good man because of her mothering. I have nothing but fond memories of the times we spent together. She was my best friend for many years. I will miss her the rest of my life.

Johnny, Cheryl's father, was like a another uncle to me.

He lived for awhile with my Grandmother Mary Lubbers south of Grinnell. My uncles were Dave & George Lubbers.

Cheryl was the sweetest person in my world. She was always so nice and wonderful and had a big heart! When she was only 18, she had to try to raise her younger brothers & sisters after our parents died. God be with Cheryl in heaven now and God be with all the family still mourning her! I love you and I will miss you so much!
