Claude Bowen Obituary

Claude A. Bowen, 78, of Erie, Pa., died on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at the Erie VA Medical Center. Claude was born December 25, 1935 in Union City, Pa., the son of the late Claude Leroy Bowen and the late Sadie (Hayes) Bowen Cass. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army and was awarded an Honorable Discharge. He owned and operated the Bowen's Gulf service station for several years in Wattsburg, Pa., and later became the groundskeeper at Scenic Heights Golf Course. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #882, of Union City, Pa. and loved to golf and do mechanical repairs. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and also his step-father, Albert Cass.

Survivors include his wife, Jewel A. (Kimmy) Bowen, whom he married on September 7, 1957 of Erie, Pa.; a daughter, Susan Renee Bowen Gregor and her husband, Darren, of Waterford, Pa.; sons, Mark Bowen and his wife, Stacie, of North East, Pa. and Ted Bowen and his wife, Carol, of Harborcreek, Pa.; grandchildren, Corey Leube and Alexis Bowen; sister, Etta Eastman and her husband, Dayton, of Little Hope, Pa.; brothers, Hugh Bowen and his wife, Sandy, of North East, Pa., Mickey Bowen and his wife, Sara and Roy Bowen and his wife, Marjorie, all of Erie, Pa.; step-sisters, Dorothy Hall and her husband, Alvin, of Oklahoma, Mary Ann Hall and her husband, Frank, of California, and Susie Offerman and her husband, Jerry, of Arkansas; step-brothers, Robert Cass and his wife, Mary Ann, and Ronald Cass, all of Erie, Pa., Jim Cass and his wife, Donna, George Cass and his wife, Flossie, and Richard Cass and his wife, Pinky, all of Erie, Pa., and Edward Cass and his wife, Nancy, of Union City, Pa.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Monday, August 11, 2014. Friends are invited to call at the Robert M. Glenn Funeral Home, Inc., 62 South Main Street, Union City, Pa., on Monday, August 11, 2014 from 12 until 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Wattsburg Cemetery, Wattsburg, Pa.
