Clayton Smith Obituary
Clayton attended and graduated from Sampson High School in North Carolina in 1953 with honors. He was married to Johnnie Rae Tatum on December 24, 1954. He joined the US Army after high school and served 20 years. After retiring, he went to Ampex Corporation and retired there after 20 years.
Clayton was a soft spoken easy going guy who loved his family. He enjoyed fishing and barbecuing in his back hard with family friends. He was a history and movie buff. He also loved football, (Yes, he was a Bronco fan). He watched college ball and NFL football to the end. He was loved by all.
Clayton was preceded in death by his mother, father and son, Clayton Jr. He is survived by his three children, Tracy, Regina, (Dave), and Pamla, (Charlene). Clayton has 10 grandchildren: Nathan, Ryan, Anthony, Aaron (Carrie), Audra, Jenna (Armando), Kurtus, Raymond, Shantae, Isaiah, and one great grandson, Liam.
Like a daughter, Muriel, and like a son, Elijah. ...and many adopted grands and family.

I grew up two doors down from the Smith family. Mr. Smith always acknowledged the neighbors with hello, smile and wave. He always was working in his yard making it look nice. I know the Smith family, neighbors and friends will miss him. May you hold onto the good memories of him, and may he Rest In Peace!

I remember all those good times when we both worked at Ampex. You were very good friends with my mom, who also worked there.
