Clyde Edward Kenebrew, born on October 6, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away on July 17, 2024, in Denver, Colorado, surrounded by his loving family. Clyde leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, dedication, and inspiration, exemplifying the power of kindness, hard work, and unyielding support.
The second of twelve children, Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Alice Kenebrew, and four siblings. Raised in Chicago and Robbins, Illinois, he excelled as a star athlete at Dwight D. Eisenhower High School, earning a full scholarship to Colorado State University Pueblo (formerly the University of Southern Colorado). There, he met his beloved wife of 42 years, Sylvana Mitchell. Clyde graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration, leaving a mark on the university's athletic history.
Clyde built a successful career as a licensed insurance agent, known for his dedication and genuine care for others. His true passion, however, was his family. He was a loving father and provider, known for his humor, confidence, and wisdom. Clyde found joy in coaching and mentoring youth, spending time with loved ones, and sharing his signature "dry" dad jokes.
Clyde is survived by his devoted wife, Sylvana; his children, Lauren, Cameron, and Evan; his grandchild, Harrison; and his siblings, Angela, Leonard, Janet, Lonnie, Charmaine, Mark, David, and Adrienne. He also leaves behind cherished pets and a large extended family. Clyde's memory will be treasured by all who knew him, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 16, 10:00am at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 E. Platte Ave., Colorado Springs.
