Clyde Lewis Obituary

Born January 20, 1936 in Evington, Virginia to Berkley Chambers Lewis and Nannie Worley Lewis. Departed this life October 16, 2013 surrounded by the love of his family and friends after a long battle with cancer in the home he and his family designed and built.

Preceded in death by his parents and brothers Morris & Roger Lewis.

Was a proud 23 year Army veteran serving 3 tours in Germany, 1 in Italy and 1 in Vietnam. In retirement he was a plumber both as a civil servant and employed by a private contractor.

He was a strong, hard working, quiet man. He loved collecting and working on old cars, fishing at Blue Mesa Reservoir, square dancing, playing cards and spending time with his family. He was a die-hard fan of the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies. He loved country western music, especially reruns of Hee Haw.

Sorry to hear of Clyde passing. Even though it's a year later for some reason I decided to check online for old friends that I made while serving in the USAF stationed while at PAFB. And I thought of Clyde, well "Grandpa" Clyde is was I use to tease him with. He was so full of knowledge and just a gentleman but dear lord don't upset him.Of course as with the military I got reassigned to VAFB, I went back to Colorado for a short vacation and well Clyde offered me stay with him and his wife Barbra he got so worried when I decided to stay at the motel off base away because I didn't want to bother them so late,He made sure I knew next time just to show up no matter what time it was.Sadly I didn't get to make up that way again. It's been 22 years since I left Colorado. And I will always remember "Clyde B. Lewis" for his humor, pride, knowledge and most of all that pipe he always puffed on. It was an honor just knowing him. Farewell my friend Kerrie A. Shaffer aka "Blue Hawaiian"
