Colleen Murphy Sperber, beloved wife, mother, daughter, and friend passed away on January 14, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Colleen was born in 1967, in Omaha, Nebraska. She attended Grinnell College for her undergraduate education, followed by University of Pittsburgh for her law degree. She then worked at a law firm in Philadelphia, where she met her husband, Brian, who was attending medical school. Colleen had a strong faith and Brian first approached Colleen at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Philadelphia.
She took time away from her profession to raise three amazing children. They were her heart and soul. Later, she returned to law and was honored to work at the firm of Sparks Willson P.C. When Brian fell ill to cancer, she chose to step away from her practice. Six months after Brian's treatment ended Colleen was diagnosed with her own cancer.
Colleen is survived by her husband, Brian; her children, Luke, Hugh, and Ava; her mother, Karen Murphy; her sister, Cindy Smith; and her brother, David Murphy. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Murphy.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 24th at 11:00 am at Broadmoor Community Church, Lake Avenue, Colorado Springs.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Colleen's memory to CASA of the Pikes Peak Region or TESSA of Colorado Springs, organizations dedicated to protecting and supporting vulnerable members of the community—work that reflected Colleen's compassion and values.
