Connie Burwell Obituary
She was born to the late Harold and Marilouise Yaussy, June 20, 1956, in Galion, Ohio. Connie graduated from Colonel Crawford High School in 1974 and continued her education at State Beauty Academy in Marion, Ohio. On August 28, 1977, she was united in marriage to Douglas Burwell. They lived together in Akron, Ohio before relocating to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1980.
Connie was a cosmetologist for over 40 years and last worked at Austin Hair Design where she retired in May, 2015. She was passionate about caring for her clients and worked closely with her fellow coworkers.
Connie loved camping and traveling with her family and friends. She visited over 200 national parks and also enjoyed international travel to Peru, China, England, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Italy.
Connie is survived by her husband, Douglas Burwell, and her two children.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to the National Park Foundation, 1110 Vermont Ave., NW, Suite 200, Washington, DC, 20005 or www.nationalparks.org.
A celebration of Connie's life will be held at 7pm, September 13 at Pulpit Rock Church, 301 Austin Bluffs Parkway in Colorado Springs.

I am deeply saddened to hear that Connie passed. She was my hairstylist for a dozen or more years. She was so very sweet to me, gave me great life advice and I always loved hearing about all her travels. I am so very sorry for your loss. She was an amazing person. Love to you all.

Doug, I was so sorry to hear of Connie's passing. She was my friend and hairdresser since 2001. She gave my daughter her first hair cut when she was 1. I told her all my secrets (only your hairdresser knows for sure) and she was always very comforting. My heart is sad for you and the kids! Know she was loved by my whole family!

I am so very sorry about your loss of Connie. I loved Connie as a friend and my hairdresser. She had been doing my mom's hair for over 30 years as well. I think about her often and am so happy she had such a high quality of life for herself and traveled so much since the initial diagnosis. I was her last customer in May and was so amazed that she had gotten along so well up to that point and was happy and on the attack for so long. She wasn't going to let it get her down, by gawd! You can't ask for more than that in life. I intend to name my next kitty after Connie as her love of cats was so prevalent. She always loved seeing mine when she'd stop by to do my mom's hair at my house on TGap. I know she adored her Bella and hated being apart from her. I truly loved her as a friend and co-hort. She would always tease me as she was a month younger than I am and that made me sooo old. I miss my conversations with her so much. My deepest sympathies to you all.

So sorry for your loss... We will miss her happy face and her zest for life. She was an amazing mentor in the salon industry!
Her hunger to learn was so inspiring she was an education junkie
Always attending every educational function we had to offer.
