Curtis Banks Obituary

Banks
Curtis Wayne
Banks

September 27, 2024

Curtis (Curt) Wayne Banks, 63, passed away peacefully at his home on September 27, 2024, surrounded by the love of his wife and son. Born on December 19, 1960, in Colorado Springs to Wayne and Glenda Banks, Curt was a proud native of Colorado Springs, deeply connected to his roots and community. He graduated from Coronado High School in 1979 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Petroleum Refining Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in 1983, a distinction he carried with great pride.

Curt's life was forever changed when he met Donna in a computer science class at UCCS. She was the love of his life, and he cherished her deeply, often surprising her with thoughtful gifts and gestures that reminded her of his adoration. The two married on October 22, 1988, and together they built a beautiful life, welcoming their son Jacob on December 24, 1994.

Throughout his professional career, Curt held roles of increasing responsibility, including as an Engineering Systems Analyst with Colorado Interstate Gas (CIG), a Technical Staff Member at APTEK, a Senior Systems Analyst at Lockheed, an Information Technology Manager at Signal Processing Technologies (SPT), a Senior Design Engineer at Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation, and a position at Maxim Integrated Circuits.

Curt was also a dedicated member of the El Paso Soil Conservation and the Pikes Peak Range Riders, forging deep bonds of friendship through these organizations. His friends were like family, and they knew they could count on Curt, just as he could count on them.

Curt's character was one of integrity, hard work, and an unwavering gratitude for the blessings in his life. He was not only a brilliant mind but also an exceptional handyman, husband, father, and friend. His life was filled with passions that eventually led him to retire early and enjoy more time with the things he loved most.

Curt had a zest for life and was a "meat-and-potatoes" guy at heart. His many hobbies included elk hunting, fly fishing, cycling, camping, climbing Colorado's 14ers, backpacking, trap shooting, skiing (and teasing snowboarders), and indulging in ice cream and grilled cheese sandwiches. He loved going to Broncos games with his family and even dabbled in raising chickens, turkeys, ducks, pigs, cows, and bees. His love for tinkering in the kitchen often led him to tweak recipes and label them "Curt's World Famous" in Donna's recipe book.

Curt also had a unique sense of humor, marked by his collection of "Banksisms"—little sayings that still make his friends smile to this day. Though he had his own personal accomplishments, he was always prouder of the achievements of his wife Donna and son Jacob.

A man of deep faith, Curt put his trust in Jesus Christ and lived each day with humility and gratitude for the life he was given. His memory will be cherished by his beloved wife Donna, his son Jacob, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.

Curt was truly one of a kind, and he will be dearly missed. His legacy of love, laughter, and hard work will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
