Cynthia McFarland Obituary

McFarland
Cynthia Christine (Cicotello) McFarland
October 16, 1966 - May 3, 2018
Born in New York City on October 16, 1966, Cynthia Christine (Cicotello) McFarland grew up in Marietta, Georgia, and later moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she lived until moving to Colorado Springs in 2011. She passed away after a 12 year battle with breast cancer on May 3, 2018, in hospice at Penrose Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Cyndi is survived by her beloved husband, Jim McFarland and daughter, Sofia Fe of Colorado Springs; father, Carl R. Cicotello, Kershaw, SC; brother-in-law, Paul Haskins, Alpharetta, GA; nieces, Melyssa Micallef and Madeline Haskins, Atlanta, GA; and nephew, Sam Haskins, Helen, GA. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary L. (Ussery) Cicotello and her sister, Celeste C. (Cicotello) Haskins.
Cyndi graduated from R.L. Osborne High School in 1984 and from Kennesaw State University in 1989 with a degree in accounting. She was a member of First Congregational Church and Unity Spiritual Center in the Rockies where she enjoyed teaching children in Sunday School. Spirituality led Cyndi through each day with a clarity of purpose, and a commitment to peace and justice.
Colorado was such a positive move for Cyndi. She woke each day appreciating the beauty that surrounded her, marveling at the nature in her own backyard. Cyndi filled the world with her light, love, and energy. Her smile radiated joy as she sought to live life to its fullest. Nature, walking, practicing yoga, reading, listening to music and contemplating art gave her great pleasure. Nutrition and the preparation of healthy food were an important focus for Cyndi, and that knowledge was enthusiastically shared with others who were so taken with her stamina and sense of well being.
Cyndi faced cancer with the positivity and courage of a valiant warrior. She was an inspiration and coach to so many who shared that same difficult journey. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on May 11 at 6p.m. at Unity Spiritual Center in the Rockies. In accordance with her wishes, a committed service will be arranged later in Kershaw, SC.
