DALE VANCE WILCOX
April 7, 1928
November 21, 2018
Dale Vance Wilcox was born in Simla, Colorado on April 7, 1928 to Joseph and Maude (Lewis) Wilcox and died November 21, 2018 at Sherwood Assisted Living in Sequim, WA, under the tender care of his family and care givers at both Sherwood and the Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County. Truly, one could say that his care givers, who loved him and who he loved, were also like a family. At his request no services will be held.
Mr. Wilcox joined the USAF in 1946 and, while serving in England, met Rhoda Edith Jerrit of Glasgow, Scotland, at a pilgrim's festival in Canterbury. They married in 1951 at Denver, CO, with Cynthia Peavler (Berridge) in attendance, and spent tours of duty together in Europe and England. Beyond his tours of England, Europe, and North Africa, Dale was a flying crew chief under the Far East Air Forces, flying reconnaissance and photographic missions over the Philippines, Japan, and North Pacific Islands. He also later served as a Launch Crew Chief with the newly de-veloped Matador Cruise Missile at Patrick Air Force Base, Florida, and Hahn Air Force Base, Germany. Dale ended his military career as a B-52 Flight Line Chief with the Strategic Air Command at Walker Air Force Base, New Mexico. After retiring from the USAF as a decorated Chief Master Sergeant, Dale worked for Hewlett Packard at Colorado Springs and at Santa Rosa, California, retiring from there and moving to Sequim, Washington, in 1986. There, he and Rhoda ac-quired many friends with whom they played golf and enjoyed other activities.
His wife Rhoda passed away in 2011. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings Tina Berridge, and Carl and Jack Wilcox. Dale is survived by his daughter Janeanne Trundle and her husband Robert of Sequim, grandchildren Anne Caitlin Schwindt (Book) and her husband Darren of Colorado Springs, Capt. Colin Wilcox Trundle, USAR, Minneapolis, and MMN2 Graeme Joseph Trundle, USN, USS Tucson (Honolulu), and great grandsons Garrett and Tristan Dorais, and David Schwindt.
We ask all who remember Dale to celebrate his life by helping someone in need, giving a helping hand, honoring a veteran, forgiving someone, or just raising a glass of your favorite drink in his memory and saluting a good life.
