Dan (Skub) Skubby Obituary

Dan (Skub) was born October 14, 1937 in Cleveland, OH along with twin sister Dianne. He died peacefully in Casa Grande, AZ on April 30, 2015 under Hospice Care from metastatic cancer.

Dan attended Our Lady of Good Counsel Grade School and graduated from St. Edwards High School in 1955. He attended Fenn College before joining the United States Marine Corps in 1956. He served as a Naval Gunfire Spotter until his honorable discharge in 1959.

Dan worked as a mechanical tooling engineer for many firms in the Cleveland area; including Balas Collect, Pesco Products, and Fine Line Designs. After moving to Colorado Springs in 1977, he was employed by Hewlett Packard Corp for 23 years, retiring in 2001.

Dan enjoyed traveling/camping, fishing, hunting, shooting, golfing, cooking, baking, woodworking, and entertaining. In all of these things, he did them loudly, enthusiastically, and went "all out". He was a life member of NRA and loved his Christian faith.

Dan married Mary Jane Barron in North Carolina in 1957. They had 3 children; Christopher, David, and Susan. In 2000, he married Sheila Jean (Porter) Muller. They traveled the North American continent prior to Sheila's death in 2010. Dan had recently moved to Casa Grande, AZ permanently.

Dan is survived by his companion, Joan Canuel; sons Christopher and David; daughter Susan (Paul) Hoefke; step-daughter Lara (Bill) Herholtz; sister Marianne (Richard) Sautter; grandsons Patrick Hreha, Jacob, Joshua, and Aaron Skubby; granddaughter Jenn Hreha; and step-grandsons Josef, Thomas, and Samuel Herholtz.
