Daniel Ledbetter Obituary

Daniel Ledbetter, 85, of 619 N. Bost Street, Statesville, passed away Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at the Statesville Brian Nursing Center. He was born Jan. 6, 1923, in Kings Creek, S.C., and was the son of the late Tom E. Ledbetter and Macy Ramsey Ledbetter. On Jan. 30, 1943, he was married to Ruth Hatley Ledbetter, who survives. Mr. Ledbetter attended Cleveland County Schools and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Mt. Herman Lutheran Church and was retired from Uniglass Industries after 32 years. In addition to his wife of 65 years, Mr. Ledbetter is survived by three sons, Donald Ray Ledbetter and wife, Amanda, Richard Wayne Ledbetter and wife, JoAnne, and Carroll Brevard Ledbetter and wife, Pat, all of Statesville; a daughter, Nancy Ledbetter Philbeck and husband, Chuck, of Statesville; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and Buddy. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Corbell officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Keiger, Nick Philbeck, Brian Kilpatrick, Jamey Woody, Chuck White and Daniel Proffitt. The family will receive friends from 2-2:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
