Danny Dorsey Obituary

Danny Lee Dorsey of Fountain, was called to his heavenly home on Saturday, November. 28, 2015. Danny was born May 18, 1953 in Emporia, KS to Virgil and Lucile Dorsey. The family moved to Colorado in 1966. Danny graduated from Widefield High School and in 1977, married the former Tonya Hendrix.

Mr. Dorsey served in the US Army for 12 years. He was a 20 year employee of Schlage Lock and also worked for Ace Hardware. Mr. Dorsey was a 25 year employee of Fountain Valley News and was associated with The Gazette for the last 20 years. He served both newspapers until his death.

Mr. Dorsey was a diehard Broncos fan, as well as being an avid fisherman who loved gospel music and old school. He was always ready to entertain family and friends at his home with barbecues or huge, home-cooked meals. Everyone was welcomed and became part of the family.

Mr. Dorsey leaves to mourn his passing, his mother, Lucile Dorsey, his wife, Tonya, his children, Danny (Megan) Rodriguez, David (Jasmine)Dorsey, Lucinda, and Debra Dorsey of Colorado Springs, Lamar Rodriguez, Paul Rodriguez, and Charli Trujillo of Emporia, KS, two sisters, Ruthann (Marshall) Patterson and Alberta (James) Hand, of Colorado Springs, and his brother, Virgil (Patricia) Dorsey of Denver, CO. He is also survived by Denise Hendrix of Wichita, KS, George Hendrix, Jr. of Georgia, Keith Hendrix of California, and Danielle Hughes of Denver.

Danny will be greatly missed by his 20 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of loving cousins.

Services will be held Dec. 11, 2015 at 3:00pm at the True Spirit Baptist Church, located at 5120 Astrozon Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO.
