DANNY C. SCHAFER

Dan, as friends and family knew him, passed peacefully with family and friends surrounding him and the prayer circle praying for his journey to heaven. Dan was born in Reading, PA started first grade in Long Island, NY then moved with his parents to Bernardsville, NJ where he attended public schools until his graduation from Bernardsville High in 1954. He joined the Marines in 1954 and continued service until 1957... He entered Michigan State University and graduated in 1961 with a degree in Criminal Justice. He started his career with U.S. Customs as a Special Agent and after the first year was assigned to serve in El Paso, Texas. In 1968 he transferred to Laredo, Texas and continued his tour there, with special assignment when called by President Nixon to serve as one of the first Sky Marshals and flew with the airlines to and from Europe returning to Laredo, and continued until transfered to New Orleans with the newly formed DEA Agency, and after four years he transferred to the DEA office in Denver, CO, and served there until his retirement in 1986. In August of 1986, he joined the staff at Pueblo, Community College and taught Criminal Justice Courses until retirement in 2003.
Dan enjoyed his retirement living in Monument, CO for 32 years... he is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sharon "Sam" Schafer, daughter, Wendy Schafer, sons, Dan Schafer, Guy Schafer (Donna), Erik Schafer, grandchildren, Brianna (Brian) Pederson Jackie Schafer, Taylor Schafer, Cara Schafer and Rory Schafer, his two great-grandchildren, Eathen and Colin Pederson, also his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Josephine Schafer, daughter Christi Schafer and in-laws Melvin and Adella Schnese.
Service is Saturday November 3 at 11 A.M. at St. George's Anglican Church, 217 E. Pikes Peak Ave. Reception following service... No Flowers please... contributions may be made to St. George's Anglican Church in memory on Dan Schafer.
