Darrel Carter Obituary

Darrel Carter, 90, went to be with the Lord February 15th, 2006. Darrel was born June 16th, 1915 in Jennings Kansas to Levi and Lillian Carter. He married Wanda Hutchins October 13th, 1940. They had two children, Kent and Konnie. Kent died four years ago. Darrel is survived by his wife, Wanda, their daughter, Konnie Sandras and her husband, Bill, Kent's wife, Rose Carter, grandchildren, Greg Sandras and wife, Jennie, Eric Sandras and wife, Cindy, three great-grandchildren, Trystan, Dakota and Carter Sandras. Besides Kent, Darrel was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. Darrel served in World War II and was separated from Wanda and Kent for two and a half years straight. He was always proud of his service to his country. Darrel moved his family from Kansas to Colorado Springs in 1952. He was a Realtor for years until his retirement. He was given the honor of Realtor Salesman of the Year for all Colorado Springs in 1965. Darrel was a member of Circle Drive Baptist Church. His faith was always an important part of his life. He and Wanda taught Sunday School together for years. They have had adults that they taught years ago come up to them and tell them what a difference they made in their lives. Darrel was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be missed so much by all of us, but we are so thankful that he doesn't have to suffer anymore and has gone home to be with our Lord and Savior. Visitation will be Monday February 20thfrom 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 21st, at Circle Drive Baptist Church, 801 N. Circle Drive. The graveside service will be at Evergreen Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers or food, the family has requested that those who desire may make donations to Circle Drive Baptist Church, 801 N. Circle Drive.

Darrel was a wonderful man. He and my Dad worked together in the real estate business for many years. I knew Darrel as a man who loved the Lord, his wife and life. I feel blessed that I knew Darrel Carter. May God comfort Wanda and Konnie!

1 Chronicles 29:28

And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honour:

These words from the Bible seem to fit Darrell Carter. He was a very honorable man, lived to a good old age and his riches were the family and friends that he leaves behind and those who went before him. You may not remember me, I was married to Gary Helmick for many years and spent wonderful times with the Carters through the years. My sympathy goes out to the family.
