Darryl Wade Rice passed away peacefully on March 30, 2023 doing what he loved most in the world, watching his beloved New York Yankees on opening day. Darryl, born December 11, 1951 to William and Marry Rice, was a long time resident of Colorado Springs, graduating from Air Academy High School. Darryl was a crossing guard for Academy School District 20 for over 30 years. His dedication to his responsibilities, ensuring the children arrived to and from school safely, was of utmost importance to him, and he truly loved what he did. Most will remember Darryl always greeting everyone he encountered with a friendly hello and a smile. Darryl touched many throughout his life, and his friends will greatly miss him.

I also graduated from Air Academy High School in 1970. I got out my old yearbook to look at pictures of Daryl and reminisce. My condolences to his family and friends.

Saw Darryl a few months ago at the grocery store, hadn't seen him in years. He was getting ready to move into a new apartment. Remember him from days gone by, softball and umpiring baseball. Fun to be around!
