David "Ronnie" Cruz passed away on October 29, 2021, after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Denver, Colorado, January 29, 1947, to the late Francis Cruz (Montoya) and the late Macario Cruz. He was an older brother to Larry Cruz and the late Deborah Cruz.

David grew up in Denver, Colorado and attended Lincoln High School where he was on the gymnastics team and a cheerleader. He carried very fond memories of his childhood to include playing in a band with some of his friends. He later joined the US Army on February 17, 1965.

He was an Airborne Medic early in his military career serving two deployments to Vietnam. After his second tour he was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. In the summer of 1972 he met his wife, Sharon Louise Cruz (Green) and they went on to have 3 children. Christopher Michael Cruz, Christina Cruz Halligan, and Cathleena Cruz Gillespie.

He was stationed with his family in Fort Bragg, NC, Schweinfurt, GE, Stuttgart, GE and Fort Carson, Colorado. He served out the remainder of his military service at Fort Carson, CO, retiring as a CW4 in 1991. After his military service he was the Post Commander of American Legion post 38. He worked in Ankara, Turkey for FMC-Nurol, contractor for the Transportation Motor Pool on Fort Carson and even ran the driving range at the Broadmoor Hotel. Ultimately retiring from work in 2011.

David loved fishing, golfing, boating, and camping while spending time with family and friends. Those passions rubbed off on his family as many enjoy the same hobbies. He was happy that all his grandsons caught their first fish with him. He greatly missed his golfing buddies once he could no longer play and started spending as much time as he could with his family.

David was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, and papa to many. David was always willing to share his wisdom with everyone. He was very much loved by those around him and will be missed by anyone who knew him.

David was preceded in death by his grandparents Daniel and Juanita Montoya, grandparents Gasper and Carmelita Cruz, parents Macario and Francis Cruz, and sister Deborah Cruz.

David is survived by his brother Larry Cruz, Wife Sharon L Cruz, Children; Christopher (Jennifer). Christina (Jeffery), Cathleena (Jesse), and Gina. Grandchildren; Anthony, Jordan, Elijah, James, David, Mackenzie, Callie, Maria, and Mitchell. Nieces- Allyson (Henry) and Tammy (Eddie). He was Papa to Heather (Frank, Dylan, Aubriana, and Jessie), Eric (Nikki), Justin (Saleen, Noah, and Easton), Kenny, and Nicolas (Shelby). He was Godfather to Crystal, Dannielle, Tierney, and Shawn.
