David Geist Obituary

David H. Geist was born December 6, 1936 to Paul and Grace Geist in Florence, CO. He died in Provo, Utah on May 23, 2009 from head trauma resulting from a fall. David worked for Colorado Springs Utilities Electric Department from 1957 until he retired in 1992. His career began as an entry-level groundman. Through hard work and dedication, he worked his way to the management position of General Foreman where he was instrumental in developing the underground line program for the Colorado Springs community. Due to his extensive knowledge of the electrical system’s construction and maintenance procedures, he was chosen to be part of the Planning and Analysis Section where he finished his 35 year career. He was actively involved in scroll saw and woodturning clubs. He attended Trinity Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Geist. David is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bonnie Geist; daughters Tamara and (Dallas) Yetter, Tonja and (Ken) Armstrong; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, one brother, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 4-7 p.m. at Swan Law Funeral Home, 501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. Services will be held on Friday, May 29, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Church of the Nazarene, 5055 El Camino Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Burial at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
