David Herr Obituary

David Francis Herr passed away on June 4, 2011 of complications due to Alzheimer's. David was born to Benjamin and Margaret Herr in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on July 14, 1940 with siblings Lawrence, Judy, Barbara, and Mitch Herr. David joined the Air Force and proudly served in Vietnam. David married the love of his life, Peggy Jo Pataro, on February 17, 1962. David retired from the Air Force, then worked and retired from General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, and Boeing. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Manitou Springs, Colorado. We will miss him so much, but we thank the Lord for letting us share his journey. David is survived by his wife, Peggy; his daughter Gayle Mendoza of Manitou Springs, Colorado; his son Christopher Herr of Cascade, Colorado; his son Jeffery Herr of Fort Worth, Texas; as well as 8 grandchildren and a great grandchild. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM with a reception to follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Colorado Springs on June 10, 2011. The final resting place will be in his home town of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Peggy, I am so sorry to hear of David's passing. You and he were my youth group leaders back in the '80's at Carswell AFB. I will always have great memories of my time then. He had a great influence of how I turned out as a father and Catholic.
