David Husband Obituary

May 5, 1959-February 7, 2008. David Michael Husband, 48, died February 7, 2008. Mr. Husband was a 30-year resident of Colorado Springs. He was born in Plymouth, Indiana to Odette Foubert and David Husband on May 5, 1959. Mr. Husband entered the Army and was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, Co in 1978. After his duties with the Army, Dave loved the Colorado Mountains and made Colorado Springs, CO. his home. Mr. Husband graduated from Colorado Technical University with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering. Dave was employed 22 years with Digital and Quantum. He started out as a technician and throughout the years, he moved into management. In addition to managing his team of engineers, Mr. Husband was involved with Quantum's New Products and Repair Operations functions and processes. The respect that Mr. Husband gained throughout Quantum was widespread. There was not one person who could not respect him for his work ethic and dedication to his job. And he did all this while still honoring each individual and his or her needs. He was greatly respected among his peers and team. In 1999, he was married to Nancy Jimenez and they shared a beautiful life together. Together they shared a love of the outdoors. Dave was a loved and admired, stepfather and grandfather. He had a calm and peaceful way of touching all of our souls. He gave to each of us his unconditional love and his love of family went deep. To his friends and family Dave was a generous and loving man. Without his presence in our lives many of us will never be the same. Because, this soft, gentle, yet immensely strong man, who always stood in the background and never wanted any limelight for himself, touched more people than a thousand loud or overbearing people ever could. Mr. Husband loved Colorado and all of its natural beauty. He loved the outdoors: elk hunting, pheasant hunting, turkey hunting and fishing. As well as running and reading. Dave gardened avidly, with his wife, Nancy. Their garden is an expression of their love for each other. His homegrown garlic's were huge and had the best flavor. Another passion was being 'Papa' to his 2 grandsons, who he loved dearly, and stepfather to his stepson Preston Jimenez. To them he gave wise council, unconditional love, and a rock to lean on through every storm. He is survived by his wife Nancy, of 9 years; his stepson: Preston Jimenez, of Colorado Springs, Colorado. In addition, he leaves step daughter-in-law: Alex Mills and a former step daughter-in-law: Sunni Campbell, 2 grandsons: Taylor Jimenez and Jaden Jimenez, all of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is also survived by his mother, Odette Foubert Husband, who resides in Plymouth, Indiana. His brothers: Jim, John, Jack, and sisters: Miriam, Joyce, Chris, and Kathy, all live in Indiana. Sister, Danielle lives in Ohio. Memorial Services will take place at Franciscan Retreat Center at Mount St. Francis, In the Cedar room. Friday, Feb 15th at 1:00 p.m. Reception will follow. 7740 Deer Hill Grove, Colorado Springs, Co. 719-955-7025. Memorial gifts in the name of David Michael Husband may be contributed to Boy's Town and Care and Share.

What can I say about Dave that would do him justice? I don't know that there is enough room on this page to say all the amazing things Dave has done. I've only known him for a year, and in that year I've learned enough about him to know he had an amazing character and was the most giving man I've ever met. I love you Mom Nancy and if you need anything, you know where to find me. :)

Thank you, everyone for your kind testimonials. As Dave's mother, I identify my son in each one of them; the way I have known him his whole life. He always told me that he loved his job because he loved the people with whom he worked. You made his life meaningful and I am very grateful to all of you at Quantum.

The evening of February 7th I was overcome with the shock of loosing Dave, soon to be replaced by an incredible emptiness that I can’t even describe.
Dave came from a large family 10 kids we don’t communicate everyday it is not necessary, we are part of each other, if anyone of us are in need everyone rallies.
We have no answer to why he left this world too soon and so quickly leaving us heart-broken.
My brother told me it was not his work that he truly enjoyed, but those he worked with. The stories posted here and the experiences shared at his memorial meant a great deal to me and I want to thank all of you that spent so much time with him and meant so much to him, for sharing. You have truly helped me.
Thank You,
Danielle

I had the pleasure to work with Dave for over 18 years and he has been an inspiration and a friend. He was quite possibly one of the most genuine people I have ever met, and was a mentor and leader to many. Dave had a way of making any stressful situation calm with his humor and positive attitude, and I will miss his smile and friendship.

Nancy,
I don't believe we ever met - I had the privilege of working with Dave off and on for many years at Digital and Quantum, and have nothing but respect for him. He will be missed - Quantum is not the same without his smiling face and helpful spirit. My prayers are with you and the rest of his family.

My thoughts and Prayers go out to Dave's family. He was one of the few Engineers that I highly respect and enjoyed working with. He is an inspiration to me on how an Engineer should be. He worked along side his workers without a "holier than thou" attitude when the work needed to be done. I remember having to work a Saturday to make a deadline for Superloader 3 line and Dave was there, with a smile, helping pack up units with us. Some of us (me included!) weren't too happy to be there and had a "less than good" attitude, but Dave's positive attidude left an impact on me from that day on. He always had a smile and made you feel important, even if you were an Assembler. I regret not getting to work with him more. He is how I want to be when I became an Engineer. He will be greatly missed. R.I.P.
God Bless his Family.

Dave is going to be dearly missed here at quantum. I will never forget the, “James, how the hell are you” when running into him in the hallway. He was always upbeat and could always put a smile on your face. I will always be in his dept for his help in guiding me in the right direction here at quantum and in life. Thanks Dave!!!

Dave was always one to weed through the details and get to the bottom line for us as a supplier. The few times he visited, it was obvious what a wonderful person he was. As a work aquaintance and human being alike, our lives are all better for knowing him. He will be greatly missed and our hearts go out to Dave's family and friends.

Although I worked for Quantum in Massachusetts, I had many opportunities to meet Dave and I enjoyed every one because he had a strong character that leaves a positive and lasting impression on you. I had the utmost respect for him because he had integrity that is hard to find today. The world has lost a great man.

We had many great times together at Quantum. You added such a calm and logical infuence to what was often a very crazy time. You will be missed greatly. Until we meet again, take care, and good bye for now. - Larry
