David Krauth Obituary

Krauth
David Charles "Dave" Krauth
July 9, 1961
June 5, 2023

David Charles "Dave" Krauth passed away on June 5, 2023. He lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado for many years, and was formerly a resident of Ramona, California and Tucson, Arizona. Dave was employed as Principal, Transportation Planning & Traffic Engineering at Stantec in Colorado Springs. He was the City Traffic Engineer for the City of Colorado Springs for 11 years, and General Manager of Salmon Falls Resort in Ketchikan, Alaska in 2015-2016.
Dave was born on July 9, 1961 to Jim and Barbara (Ballou) Krauth in Tucson, Arizona. He graduated from Sabino High School in 1979 and the University of Arizona in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. During his many years of volunteering with Camp Wildcat at UA, he met Maureen Johnson; they married in 1987 and became the proud parents of Matthew in 1989. After Matt's passing in 2012 and Maureen's in 2014, he and Eileen Gonzalez began dating in 2017. After they married a year later, Dave was a devoted stepdad to her daughters, Isabel and Katie.
When Dave wasn't enjoying time in his workshop, he and Eileen were probably camping. They took their fifth-wheel trailer all over Colorado's Front Range, and to Texas and Nebraska to be near the water. Evenings spent around the campfire were some of his favorites, especially in hunting camp with the guys. At home, he enjoyed using his grill and smoker to cook large quantities of meat for his family, who enjoyed it all very much.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Eileen; daughters, Katie and Isabel Gonzalez; sister, Brenda Krauth of Seattle; and brother, Bob (Patty) Krauth of Gallatin, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Darlene (Frank) Heavlin; nieces, nephews and so many friends that were his extended family. He also leaves behind his beloved Alaskan Husky mix, Timber. Dave was preceded in death by his first wife, Maureen ("Miss Mo"); his beloved son, Matt; his parents, Jim and Barbara; and his sister, Nancy.
A celebration of Dave's life will be held at 11AM on Saturday, June 17 at Meridian Point Church, 5450 N. Meridian Rd. in Falcon. To make a gift in Dave's memory, please consider Camp Wildcat (www.campwildcat.org/donate).

I am so very sorry to hear of Dave's passing. He, Mo and Matt were very good friends of our family's when we all were raising our kids in Ramona. Our Cub Scout camping trips and Pinewood Derby Nights were legendary, and the Krauths brought special joy to any and all events, even if it was just meeting for dinners at the local burger joint. Dave's kindness, sense of humor and ability to fix pretty much anything made him one-of-a-kind. To this day, I jokingly refer to "jalapeños" as "jaw-lah-peenies", as Dave did. He was a genuinely good guy who made a lot of people happy. Rest in peace, my friend.

I remember working with Dave on a streetscape project in Cripple Creek where I was Dir. of Public Works. We became friends outside of work. I always had great thoughts of Dave as we both moved on to different directions I am truly saddened by his passing

My condolences to David's family. Especially to his wife Eileen, assuming she's the Eileen from the City. I vaguely remember David from the City.

Dave was an amazing person. He was a good friend, a knowledgeable mentor, a man committed to making those around him smile and above else an individual committed to his family. He spoke at lengths about his children and wife. I will miss him greatly. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone missing Dave.

Very sorry to hear of Dave's passing. I didn't get to work with him as much as I had planned due to other work commitments on the west slope for Stantec, but will always remember fondly our conversations about things other than work.

May God hold you close during this trying time. I will miss him and the opportunity to bump into him at Country Jam every year.

Dave's smile, stories and love of life will be missed tremendously.

Rest in Peace, Dave. Prayers for comfort and peace for the family and friends you left behind this week. You will be missed.

Thank you for the laughs, friendship and brotherhood over the years. Thank you for so generously sharing Miss Mo and Matt with us. Gone too soon, but to a well deserved reward, I´m certain. And an amazing reunion with Maureen, Matt and many others in the glorious presence of Jesus.
