David "Dave" Thomas Prather
Proud Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 20th, 2017 at his home in Colorado Springs, CO. Dave was born in Madison, NE where he lived until 1972 at which time he moved his family to Colorado Springs, CO.
Dave was the owner of Prather Woodworking where he displayed his love for building and creating from 1972 through 2003. Dave was a Master Wood-Worker and took great pride in all that he built and created. Dave worked for many builders in the Colorado Springs Area.
He loved spending time with his family at his home as well as Conchas Dam, NM. One of his favorite hobbies was to tinker and fix things around his home and the cabin. Dave was a fun loving man who enjoyed his boat and fishing. He always looked forward to family and friends gathering where laughter and stories were shared. Dave's laughter was contagious and always made cards and games the highlight of the night. Dave is noted for his famous quote "Son of a Bear". His legacy will be cherished and passed down for generations to come.
Dave is survived by his wife, Joan of 60 years. Loving children Kim & Jim Solberg, Kristi & Ernie Schroeder, Kirt Prather, and Kay & Ken Gerlock. Grandchildren Ryne & Cyndyl Solberg, Cody Solberg, Evet Lashley, Nikki (Heston Olson), Kelly, and Luke Schroeder, KaCee & Steven Sabell, Travis and Katie Gerlock. Great-grandchildren Akrimini, Jayca, Emma Rose, and Maddux. One sister Gloria Long of Battle Creek, NE survives.
Services will be Friday, September 29th, 2017 at 10:00am at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, CO where a reception will follow.

This is one of life's toughest roads to travel down, and sometimes seems unbearable. However we manage to go down that road, with tears, grief and a broken heart. But the thought of knowing your dad is not suffering is a blessing! Hugs and prayers to you my friend.
