DAVID JAMES SHIPMAN

David James Shipman was born to James Francis & Bessie Belle (Holcomb) Shipman in Ashtabula, OH on October 28, 1938. He served his country a combined total of 16 years in the Army and National Guard.
In 1958 David married Doreen Marie Rightnour and had two children, Pamela Sue and Thomas David while working for CEI in Ashtabula. The family relocated to Colorado and he worked for 28 years as Trouble Lineman for Colorado Springs Utilities, retiring in 2001.
In 2000 he married Clarice (Abrams) Roney and acquired two more sons, Scott James & Glenn Leroy Roney. In 2001 they moved to Penrose where he enjoyed meeting people, especially while working as a Park Ranger at the Royal Gorge until after "the fire".
David was a Member of IBEW #113, Colorado & Fremont Cattlemen's Associations, Fellowship of Christian Cowboys, VFW, American Legion, NRA, and AA as well as Deacon at 1st Southern Baptist Church in Penrose. At the time of unexpected passing on January 28, 2019, he was proud of almost 33 years of sobriety!
He is survived by his wife, Clarice; children, Pamela Sue (Joe) Cevera of Ashtabula, Tom, of Penrose, as well as Scott (Jo) and Glenn (Terri) Roney of Colorado Springs; sisters-in-law, Dorothee Shipman and Ellie Rightnour, brother-in-law Bill Rightnour; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alta and husband Will Greatwood of CA; and brother, Louis E. (Dorothee) Shipman of Fountain, CO.
Services will be held at 10 am on February 16, 2019 at 1st Southern Baptist Church, 722 N Broadway, Penrose, CO.
