David Simmons Obituary

David James Simmons died January 27, 2017, at St. Francis Medical Center, Colorado Springs, surrounded his family.

Dave was born August 23, 1944, in Wessington Springs, South Dakota, to the late Cecil H. and Marie (Petrosky) Simmons. He graduated from Wessington Springs High School and attended Red Rocks Community College, Golden, CO.

He served in the Army National Guard and the United States Navy, honorably discharged in 1969. He married Mary Kavanagh in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Rexton, New Brunswick, Canada, on May 31, 1969. Following Dave's discharge from the U.S. Navy, he and Mary moved to Colorado, where they raised their family. He loved his home, his garden, but most especially his children and grandchildren.

Dave is survived by his wife Mary, daughters Jane Carlock (late Daryl), Trinidad; Diana Brady (James), Colorado Springs; sons James (Nikki), Colorado Springs; Andrew (Brandi), Littleton; and seven grandchildren: Lucas Carlock, Antonio Carlock, Audrey Simmons, Jackson Simmons, James Brady, Mark Brady, and Luke Brady. Also surviving are his brothers Michael and Patrick, sisters Margaret, Cecile, Grace, Rita, Clara, and Barbara, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his grandson DeVonni Carlock.

Visitation will be at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 East Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, on Wednesday, February 1, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 2, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2318 N. I was very sorry to hear of Dave's passing and offer my sincere condolences to his family. I worked with Dave in Civil Engineering at Peterson AFB for a number of years. He was a nice man who was very knowledgeable in the HVAC field and a person you could go to for help or information. May your memories of times together bring you comfort.
