Linda, Wendy, Mike, Becky, & family,

I was crushed when mom told me about the passing of Dave. You all are a very special part of my family. The Penn St. gang wouldn't have existed without the use of your side yard for our thousands of football games. You all are a huge part of what I miss growing up there as your neighbor. I can just hear you now, Linda, "You kids keep it down...don't make me send Dave out there". I can easily picture him getting home from work, sitting in his chair, lighting up the pipe and catching up with the Cosmopolite Herald.

Dave was always a strong quiet presence. The fact that he survived that accident proves his determination.

Thank you for all the memories and putting up with the teenage Jeff. God bless you all and take care of each other.

To the family of Mr. Strubel,

Mr. Dave was my patient for a brief time and my friend forever.
He and I talked, a lot! I have a message or two of his saved on my voicemail. We always had fun kidding about doughnuts, Smiths hot dogs and living in Fairview. We often discussed our plan to visit one another. He was a joy and an inspiration. He cherished his family and spoke of you each as a precious gift. We had a lot of fun pushing the envelopes of wit and conversation. He was sharp and strong with a great sense of who he chose to be. As my patient he gave me so much more than I could return. He shared about his tragic accident, and the difficulties that followed for he and his beloved family. Impossible to make sense of all that, what I am sure of is that where his path took him, he made a memorable difference. God used both he and your family as an inspiration to many, including myself. His lasting impression will be a lifetime gift. May Gods love and His peace envelope your family through the difficulty of his loss. May you all find comfort in the assurance that he was loved by so many. He is home now.

Linda and family,

This broke my heart. I can imagine how you all feel right now. I was just thinking of this nice man in my workplace concerning car accidents. I had the pleasure to care for him. I had the pleasure of him visiting me. I had the pleasure of having dinner with you both just a few years ago. He even called me on my birthday one year. He was no longer a patient of mine. He became a friend. Dave, you will always remain thought of by me. I am a believer. I truly believe your best days are yet to come. Nancy and I send our deepest sympathy on your loss. I will so miss the man that changed my way of thinking about patients in a rehab setting from the day he went home. Goodbye dear man. Thank you for making a difference in life for all.

The neighborhood will not be the same without Dave buzzing around on his golf cart, stopping by just to see what's going on. He will be greatly missed.
