David Tolhurst Obituary

Passed away on Easter, surrounded by family and dear friends after a courageous battle with cancer for 3 years. Dave was a special family man dedicated to the needs of his family, and also his performance at his job at Anglo Gold Ashanti (Cripple Creek and Victor Gold Mining Company). He was a mentor to his family members, and many employees at the mine. Dave's life was based on the four agreements; Speak with impeccability, Never assume, Don't take things personally, and Always do your best. Dave had a special love in his life for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter who loved to hunt with his bow and his favorite was bird hunting with his dogs. He loved his mountain bike and took many trips with his family to Moab. He also loved rock climbing in his jeep, ice fishing, and he was very good at all he did. Dave had the opportunity with his job to visit many countries, and fell in love with Africa. He loved the people, the animals, and he talked of someday moving there. Dave left behind a huge legacy and a loving family. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Linda Tolhurst, daughters Alisha (James) Ujlaky, Tiffiny (Kerry) Davis, son Austin Tolhurst, and 3 grandchildren. Dave is also survived by his mother Carol Tolhurst, brothers Jack (Connie) Tolhurst, Rick (Michelle) Tolhurst, Brad (Rebecca) Tolhurst, numerous nieces and nephews, and very dear friends. Dave was preceded in death by his father James Harwood Tolhurst. Donations can be made to Porter Hospice Foundation, information on donating can be found at www.porterhospicefoundation.org. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 11am at The Lost Dutchman Resort, 382 Trout Haven Rd., Divide, CO 80814.

I always had a lot of respect and love for Dave and his family. I watched in wonderment when dave his brothers and cousins would give their aunt Darky a hard time. Chasing her with the horse locking her in the truck with the dog talking her into going with them for a ride in the jeep, sitting her on the water fountain to name a few. She loved every minute of it. We will all miss you a great deal

I really love and respect my nephew, David. I will always remember when DeeEl and I went to their home in dinner and the way the treated us. I loved the times they came to Summit and will always remember them playing with our kids. He has a wonderful family and will be missed greatly. Love, Norma Stapley
