David White Obituary

David Christopher White, 62, suffered a heart attack on February 5, 2010 while snorkeling at a beautiful Hawaiian beach near Poipu, Kauai. He died three days later at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, Lihue, and Kauai. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Linda, two daughters, Lisa Cramer and Erin Ann Foster, two grandsons, Chris and Joe, his son-in law, Mack Foster, his brothers, Jim and Bob, his sister Maria Pompea, and his aunt, Diane Gordon. He is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Faye, his father, Robert Harry, and his uncle, Joe Gordon. Chris was born in Kassel, Germany, on March 5, 1947. He was there with his father, a captain in the Army Air Force. Most of his youth was spent in Colorado Springs. He attended St. Mary's High School, starring in football and lettering in baseball. He graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Construction Management and later received an MBA in Business from the University of Detroit-Mercy. He served in the Navy Seabees, completing two tours of duty in Vietnam and was a proud veteran his whole life. He spent the bulk of his career as a Construction Project Manager for the Real Estate division of Ford Motor Company. This career took the family to many places, including many years in the Detroit area. Through it all Chris yearned to return to his beloved Colorado, a goal he realized in May of 2007, whereupon he built the house of his and Linda's dreams in the foothills south of the Springs. Chris loved sports and played tennis while in Hawaii. He was a man of subtle wit and humor, often cutting to the heart of a matter with clever insight. He read widely, followed politics closely, and wrote poetry. He was a man of integrity, courage, and loyalty. He loved his family and friends. Visitation for family members and friends will be from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Monday, February 15, 2010, at Swan - Law Funeral Home, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. A Memorial Services will follow on Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at 10:00 am also at Swan- Law with interment immediately to follow at Evergreen cemetery.

Linda, Erin, Lisa, This is a sad time, however, Chris was an inspiration to us with how lived. He was full of life, humor, and love and he enjoyed each and every moment with his family and friends. We are proud and honored to have him as our friend.
