Deborah Eitel Obituary

Deborah Eitel died peacefully in her sleep on the morning of January 3, 2013 in San Diego, California. Debby was born on November 7, 1925 in Dubuque, Iowa. She was married to James M. Eitel and is survived by five grandchildren and her four children: Mike Eitel of Seattle, Becky McCullough of San Diego, T.J. Eitel of Colorado Springs, and Sue Eitel of Annapolis. Debby was a registered nurse and her happiest moments were working in labor and delivery where she helped bring hundreds of children into the world. Debby loved animals, playing bridge, and being outdoors. As per her family tradition, Debby donated her body to science. Her extended family will be returning to Colorado Springs in the Summer of 2013 to celebrate her life. Debby was loved deeply and will be remembered by all those whose lives she touched.

I lived across and up the street from the Eitel's when I was in high school. Her daughter Becky was a friend and I remember going to their house often. Debby was friendly and fun-loving. I particularly remember one time hearing her talk about eating 4 Oreo cookies at one time and then I felt better as I didn't know anyone else who ate 4 cookies in one sitting but me! She was a sweet lady and lived many years caring for her horses and loving life. To Becky Mike Susan and TJ I know you will miss her dearly. She will always live on in your hearts and in your own children! Love, Renee McCullough (no relation to Becky)

What a wonderful, independent woman "Mrs. Eitel" was to a 9 year old kid who moved in across the street and became friends with her son Mike.

My thoughts are with you at this time. I grew up accross the street from the Eitel's, and have many fond memories of Deborah and the entire Eitel family. She was quite a character. My heart goes out to you all at this time of grief.
