Dee Ann Hipps Anderson, age 85, of Colorado Springs passed away surrounded by loved ones on January 3, 2026.
Dee Ann H Anderson was born in Loveland, Colorado May 1st, 1940, to her loving parents, Lloyd Tremain Hipps and Mary Louise Renz Hipps. She spent much of her childhood in Englewood, Colorado. Mary was able to stay home and care for Dee Ann, their one and only deeply cherished daughter.
She attended college and received a nursing degree through the University of Colorado in Boulder and Denver. During this time, she met the love of her life, Paul Nathaniel Anderson, who was pursuing a medical degree at University of Colorado Medical School in Denver. He was then offered the opportunity of a fellowship at Johns Hopkins in Maryland. Dee Ann fully supported Paul and deeply understood his calling as a doctor. They were married in Fort Collins, Colorado on June 27, 1965. Following the wedding, they moved to Bethesda, Maryland to begin their lives together and Paul's work with NIH and Johns Hopkins Hospital. This is where both of their daughters, Chrissy and Kathy were born.
In July of 1976, the family headed to Colorado Springs. Paul began a long career and calling as a physician and in service to the field of oncology. Paul knew that Chrissy and Kathy would best be raised with the loving, full-time support of their mother, so he ensured she was able to stay at home with the girls. Further, Colorado was the home to both sets of their parents, Lloyd and Mary Hipps, and Paul and Doris Anderson. The value of the family was of utmost importance to both Paul and Dee Ann. She was not only able to commit her time and attention to her children but also supported her parents and in-laws in their later years. The home in Colorado Springs provided the opportunity for her to care for their aging parents, and Dee Ann walked alongside each of them throughout the end of their lives. Her nursing degree shaped her heart to care for all members of her family in all seasons of life.
Dee Ann also provided love and support to those who came into her life through her children. She deeply cared for her grandchildren and great grandchildren and truly loved spending time with each of them. Her home was a place where many felt welcomed, accepted, and embraced with love. Gatherings in the family home have always been a place where all were welcomed. Her love reached and impacted the lives of all who knew her. Her heart and caring legacy will be remembered and will shape all who knew her.
The family has also always prioritized and enjoyed many family gatherings and vacations with grandparents, children, and grandchildren. One special tradition was "Brother Trips" with Paul's brothers and their wives. Dee Ann's favorite "Happy Place" was at the family cabin in Estes Park, Colorado. Multi-generational gatherings with friends and family were a favorite, as was spending time down by the river. What a blessing these memories are for everyone.
Paul wrote with gratitude for his beautiful wife: "DeeAnn has been my girlfriend, best friend, confidant, companion, teacher, prudent and prescient advisor, wife, mother of my children, and kind and loving matriarch to all of our grandchildren and great grandchildren, caretaker for our parents, sharer of all my life and much more. 'To the whole world you might be one person, but to one person you might be the whole world.' Pablo Casals. Dee Ann is that one person for me."

With love and gratitude, her daughters and family express the following:

Thank you, for everything
We love you, more than you will ever know
We will be ok, because you taught us to care for and love each other
We know you have gone on to Jesus and have met up with Dad and your parents in Heaven.
You will always be in our hearts, and we will always remember what you have taught us:
Love and care for your family and for those that may wander into your life.
Your legacy will last throughout the generations.
Dee Ann is survived by Daughter Chrissy Hammel-Peterson and husband Rocky Peterson, Daughter Kathy Dobyns and husband Michael Dobyns, Grandchildren: Madelyn Triz (Husband Nathan Triz, sons Dawes and Awden Triz), Kaitlyn DeNardo (Husband Paul DeNardo, sons Hudson and William DeNardo), Kyla Jean (son Leo Henry). Hannah Turpin (Husband Tori Turpin, daughter Sage and sons Jude and Oliver Turpin), Ian Hammel (Wife Hannah Hammel, sons Grayson and Griffin Hammel), Jessica Schmid (Husband Jeremy Schmid), Mikayla Dobyns, Megan Hammel, Tara Dobyns, and Brittany Gibson (Husband Kyle Gibson, son Easton and daughter Blake Gibson).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative care.
