DELBERT O. BYE

Born: Denver, Colorado, July 12, 1938. A 1956 graduate from Colorado Springs High School; BA from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN; MAT Indiana University, Bloomington IN. He taught Spanish at Wasson, Coronado, and Palmer High Schools, and also at National American University. He directed the adult choirs at three different churches in Colorado Springs: Our Savior's Lutheran, Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran, and Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Survived by his wife, Kathleen (Torgerson) Bye; daughter and son-in-law, Victoria (Bye) Rein and Mark Rein; and grandchildren, Amanda and Nicholas Fahrendorff. Del was my roommate at Concordia College which we both attended from 1959-1963. A memorable trip with Del was a ski vacation in Colorado between Fall and Winter semesters, including classmates Wally Sorum, and Terence Young. We stayed at his mother's house in Colorado Springs, then got up at 5am each day for 6 days to travel to various ski resorts including Winter Park, Arapahoe Basin, Loveland, Breckenridge, and others! We were the only tan Lutherans at CC for the rest of the term and caused quite a few raised eyebrows among the bleached Minnesotans. A good friend, a good man. I wish there were more like him.
