Delbert Rounds Obituary

Rounds
DELBERT ROUNDS
1963 - 2021
We sorrowfully say goodbye to our beloved Del Rounds, an extraordinary father, husband, brother, uncle, friend, and professional, after 57 years. Del was known for his magnetic personality, caring spirit, boundless encouragement, mischievous behavior, sportsmanship, and the deepest commitment to family and friends. Anyone who was lucky enough to know him for a day or a lifetime knew that being with Del would make their day special and fun-you could not -NOT- have fun with Del. A picture of charisma, he loved to exercise, golf, snowboard, experience new adventures, and create laughter. Most of all, Del adored his wife Lisa, and daughters, Alexis and Dominike. He was excited and looking forward to upcoming marriage celebrations this year for each of his girls to men whom Del embraced as his own sons. He was investing his inexhaustible energy into planning the next chapter in his and Lisa's life-enjoying steps into retirement and time with his daughters' growing families. Del's brilliant smile, hearty laugh, generous spirit, gracious heart, and unwavering zest for life will live on affectionately in the memory of those who knew and were inspired by him. The world has lost a super-heroic soul whose presence and personal giftedness will be missed every day.
Del and Lisa married 35 years ago in La Junta, Colorado. They met as freshmen at the University of Northern Colorado. They made their first home in Colorado Springs where he began his demanding, yet rewarding, career in the health club industry. That career took them to Minneapolis for one year and then to Phoenix, where they made their permanent home and led extended family to join them. In Phoenix they raised Alexis and Dominike, built a thriving real estate business from scratch, and advanced their community through volunteering in youth sports and area schools. Del's family was always his utmost concern. He transitioned to a career in Real Estate to give him flexibility and work-life balance with the confidence of knowing that he had the best partner in life and business to make that work. In 1994 Del and Lisa secured real estate licenses in one month and within a year were earning top-performing awards that have continued through the present. Del and Lisa enjoyed traveling several times a year. They would go anywhere and everywhere to celebrate family reunions, weddings, showers, graduations, birthdays, and be with those they love. Together they enjoyed golf, game nights, welcoming others into their home, and nurturing their relationships with each other, family, and friends.
Del was born in Colorado to Delbert and Anna Rounds. Growing up in frigid and snowy Colorado Springs with two brothers and four sisters, Del developed tenacity and a disciplined work ethic. His multiple jobs included braving the weather as a paperboy, delivering packages for UPS, caddying at the Broadmoor, valet parking, and other positions through college with a competitive attitude and never complaining. This contributed to his above-and-beyond achievements in both the health club and real estate industries and his reputation as a high-performing leader respected for honesty and integrity. He, the Rounds Team, and the RE/MAX franchise were all honored with hundreds of local and national awards over the span of his career. He and Lisa owned RE/MAX Fine Properties since 2008 and cultivated hundreds of agents' careers, raising the bar in every aspect of the business. He reveled in the accomplishments of team members and colleagues whom he mentored and led rather than in his own achievements. Although his career and business reputation accolades were remarkable, they were a small part of his big life which was completely centered around his family and friends.
Del is survived by his devoted wife, Lisa, daughters Alexis Rounds Wahl (husband Ricky Wahl), Dominike Rounds (fiance Jake Holmes), siblings Cathy Knight (Harry), Ed Rounds, Mary Ann Petratis, Carol Carle (Tom), Sara Evans (Evan), mother-in-law Phyllis McClure and many in-laws, cousins, and 22 nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents Delbert and Anna Rounds, brother Donald Rounds, father-in-law Jon McClure, nieces Raychele Rounds, and Ashley Petratis, and nephew Jeremy Seberson.
Visitation is being held on Thursday, March 11 from 5-8 pm at Hansen Desert Hill Mortuary, 6500 East Bell Road, Scottsdale, AZ. Celebration of Life is Friday, March 12 at 10 am at Scottsdale Bible Church at 7601 East Shea Blvd, Scottsdale, AZ. COVID-19 precautions will be in effect. In remembrance of Del's life, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, a contribution be made to the Christopher A. Rearley Endowed Scholarship, a fund that was near and dear to his heart at: https://bit.ly/39jiuGu in his memory.

We were so saddened to hear that Del had passed away. Del was one in a million. A brilliant real estate professional, but also a caring soul. He was simply the best, and we called him friend. We will see you again in heaven, Del, where God has prepared a special dwelling place just for you (John 14:2). We are praying for you, Lisa, and your family, as well as the Re/Max Family.

I am so heart broken the Del passed away. He was the nicest and most positive person! He was our realtor in 2011 and although I haven't seen him since that time, he made a lasting impression. My heart goes out to his wife and family. I am very sorry for their loss.

Del was a great friend whom I have known for over 3 decades. I cannot express the depth of my sadness at his loss. Graduating w Lisa in La Junta and meeting Del when he and Lisa began to date way back when. Always a smile and encouraging words...it’s who he was. Prayers for Lisa, Alexis, Dominike, close family and his entire professional family. Words can’t express how unfair this feels. Godspeed, my friend.

Saddened and shocked by Del's passing. I came to know him in1999 when I moved to Arizona and he helped me buy and sell my house there. He was as fine a man as I've known. Rest in Peace Del. You've earned your wings.
