DELBERT DWIGHT TEAKELL
September 18, 1957
November 13, 2018
Delbert Dwight Teakell was born to Norma and Dwight Teakell (both graduates of Drennan School), on September 18, 1957 in Colorado Springs. He passed away on Tuesday near Otto, Wyoming. He lost his battle with lung cancer.
Delbert attended Mitchell High School and later, Ellicott High School while working for his Uncle Elvin Henderson.
During his life, Delbert worked as a truck driver and a ranch and farmhand. He loved the freedom of working on the land and driving to his next destination. Delbert was a quiet man who like to live the quiet life. He was known to commune with the wild horses on the BLM land. He and his wife collected dinosaur bones which are spread around the area they live in.
Later in his life, Delbert and his wife found a community of about 20-30 people who have lived together in a small town off the highway. Delbert and Janet have lived there for about 10 years. Delbert wanted to be buried in an old fashion burial. He died Tuesday and was buried on Wednesday. He wanted to be buried in a pine box and didn't want much fanfare. A member of the community handmade him a pine box. The town decided they all wanted to be buried together in the years to come. Delbert was the first one buried there. It was a beautiful funeral per his wife, Janet.
He leaves behind his wife, Janet, who was his soul mate, best friend, and constant companion. He leaves behind six children; William, Steven, Casey, Leslie, Buck, and Delbert: about twelve grandchildren, two brothers; Kenneth and Glenn, three sisters; Janet, Nancy, and Carman, and his mother; Norma.
