Charity,

Once again...everyday we find ourselves thinking of you and Del

(our best friends forever). Del's precious spirit and heart of compassion and love for everyone made him the most gracious and precious man we've ever known. Soon, we pray, we too will be with him in the presence of our Lord! Find comfort in your cherished memories and in those who love you. With God's help, and others you will overcome this heartbreak and loss down here, but the Lord took Del home, just as he told Dale last summer, that when he went he wanted to go fast. It was really too fast for all of us, but he is in the presence of Jesus. Always remember we love you and are on call 24/7 for anything you need! We pray for you each and every day. Del was so close to Heaven, that he didn't have to go far to get there. He was smiling and estatic all the way and is waiting for you near the pearly gate! He doesn't have to imagine anymore, but already knows what it's like! With our hearts and eyes upon Jesus who gave us breath and life to live for him we will continue to be a light to all, and try to be a whole lot more like Del. Only, no one could do a more wonderful job than he did! Trusting the Lord to feel your void and feel you mind and heart with the beautiful memories of all Del meant to you,Brenda, Lisa and your sisters and the families of the above. We love you and may the God of all comfort during this very difficult and almost unbear- able time in your life be your constant friend and hold you in his arms.

All our love...

Dear Charity and Family,

We are shocked and saddened to hear about Del. Del was my brother and true friend. Last summer we know that it was ordered by the Lord for us to get to stay in your home and talk to both of you a lot. Del took to early coffee at Starbucks and we had a great time talking about the Lord. Ever since we were young and double dated, we were so very close to you and Del. May Jesus hold you tightly and let you know how much He care and loves you as you go through this deep valley. Remember that the God on the Mountains is still the same God in the valleys! He will sustain you through this. It just makes us more homesick for Heaven. No one in Heaven has a bigger grin on his face than Del (our beloved friend) and we pray that soon Jesus will call us to be with Del and others whom we love so very much! You will be in our prayers, and thoughts every day...all day. We pray the Lord lifts all your family to greater heights of knowing that Del just went home a little sooner to be there for his family. What a day that will be! In the present of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We will miss him greatly!

Until then . . .

All our love and prayers are with you!

Charity, Brenda and Steve, Lisa and Mike,

My Thoughts are with you as well as my prayers in this time. I fondly remember many times that we were together, and Del was such a great man to be around. From the time of growing up around the entire families, to later in life when we were all again together at Radiant Church. Del was a one of a kind guy. I will always cherish the memories and pray GODS richest blessing and peace on you throughout this time. Love you,

Randy

Dear Charity,

It was a tremendous shock when Zula and I received the news about Delmar. It's so hard to believe, but I know God's timing is not the same as ours.

Even though I had not been with Del a lot, he was certainly my brother in Christ and I counted him my friend. What a joy to be in this loving man's presence.

There are some people God brings into our lives that truly bring out the best in us and Del was such a man.

There is no way I can personally relate to the sorrow and loss you feel now. You and I know the one who is able to sustain us when deep sorrow comes. Lean heavily on Him and He will see you through.

Zula and I want you to know how very much we love and appreciate you. Please know our prayers, love, and thoughts are with you and your family.

We love you,

Paul and Zula Ellison

Charity amd family,

Words cannot express the shock and disbelief when we received the news early this week of Del's death. What a unique and exceptional man he was. As family members and friends shared their memories at the service, we agreed with every one as they described the Del we all knew and loved. He affedcted everyone who knew him in similar ways. Having known Del before and after he dedicated his life to the Lord, we have observed him as a disciple who followed Jesus with heart, soul, mind and body. Mary and I have recounted many of the memories we have of our early marriages together. They are all good memories. As you and the family begin to adjust to life without Del, cling and relive those memories. Any difficult times will fade and the good memories will remain at the forefront. And there are a lifetime of those. God will grant you the strength you may feel is impossible as He has for many others who have passed through this valley. We look forward to that day of reunion when we will never more be sad or part. What a day that will be. We love you all and will be praying for you and loving you in the days and weeks to come. Keep looking up. That is where your personal and true strength will ome from.

Dear Cates Family,

I was so saddened to hear of Del's passing. I worked with him for several years at Springs Fabrication and was honored to have that priviledge. He will always remain in my heart as a kind, hard working, faithful man. A true gentleman that loved his family deeply. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Cates Family: I was so sad to hear of Del's passing, yet rejoiced to know he is now in the prsence of his Lord. Doris Snider, my sister-in-law sent me a note telling me of his passing. I first got to know Del in late 1970's. I quickly became aware of his honesty, integrity, and spiritual spirit. He certainly walked the walk of his talk. I see Del standing in heaven with that consuming smile he had, wanting you to know he will be waiting for you and all his Christian friends, so that he can personally introduce you/us to his and our Lord and Savior. What a awesome "Family Unioin" that will be.

Please be assured of our prayers for your entire family during this difficult time. Our prayer is that God's abundant presence will totally surround you with the peace that only He can give.

Charity, you are so blessed to have such a precious husband. I remember when I first met you and Del, before our little Julie was born, in 1977, you both were so kind and made our family feel so welcomed at church. You helped take care of tiny Jonathan when I needed your support during a difficult season in my life...and I've never forgotten Del's jovial and encouraging spirit at church and at June's hair salon, after getting his gorgeous hair cut or trimmed--he'd wait till I was done or I'd wait for him, and we'd talk about the Lord Jesus together. He is already terribly missed, I know. Dave and I, and Julie (and her family) and Janie and Jonathan send our love to you and your dear family--Brenda and Lisa. You can count on our prayers and our ongoing friendship. With much love!

Del, I know you are with Jesus, but I will speak to you as if you were still here. Del, words are inadequate for me to describe just how dear a friend you were to me. Having had the privlege to serve with you on the Board of Deacons at Radiant Church for 12 years, I came to appreciate Del Cates, the man, but also apreciated the dedication you had to your position on the Board. I join in grief with you, Charity, with the loss of your husband. I have mixed feelings concerning the loss of Del. On the one had, we all will miss your wonderful smile and personality. On the other hand we rejoice in the knowledge that you have joined a mulitude of others in Heaven to be with our Lord and Saviour, Jesus. Sincerely, Don Weckman.

Dearest Charity,I was shocked to see that Del had passed away, I'm reminded of how incredably particular he was about his hair, he told me I was missed terribly after I lost my ability to do hair due to arthritis.I was showering this A.M. after just having seen the paper and I saw Del on his way up to Heaven and he was slicking the sides of his hair back, making sure it was just so so to see Jesus,I do know the Lord has a sense of humor. I have photos of all of us at Juniper Valley. I know your pain my friend as it's been nearly 7 years since Mikes accident, I love you and will pray for you every day, Love, Susie

Charity, Brenda, Lisa, and extended family: I was so sorry to hear about Del. He was one of a kind. God certainly knew what He was doing when he created Del, but again, He knew what He was doing when He called Del home. Del will truly be missed, but God must have been lonely for one His creation. When I first moved to Colorado Springs in 1970 at the age of 17, your family kind of adopted me as one of your own, something I will NEVER forget. My parents were so appreciative of the influence you guys had on me. Del was a walking model of God's love. I consider it a privilege and honor to have known Del. Love, Rick

Charity, Brenda, Lisa, Aunt Loma, Loren, Gerald and and all the rest of Del's family and friends are being held before the Lord for peace, strength and wisdom during this time of saying goodbye to a much loved man. Del loved his Lord with all his heart and he went straight into the arms of Jesus. Even though you all know that, your grief is not imaginable to me, but I'm praying constantly for all of you. Al and I will forever cherish our memories of the great times we shared and hope to see you again in the future. With all our love and prayers -- Al and Nadine Hancock
