Delvan Wallgren Obituary

Delvan Wallgren was called home by The Lord on August 21, 2017. He was a loving father, husband, and beloved friend to many.

Del was born in Ogden, Utah to Rex and Marion (Boam) Wallgren. He was raised in Bountiful with his siblings, Rawn, Maura, and Terri. He was an Eagle Scout who loved to downhill ski and ride his motorcycle in the mountains. He graduated from Viewmont High School in 1972.

Del worked his way through college as a brick mason and graduated from the University of Utah in 1982. He was commissioned as an Officer in the U.S. Air Force later that year.

After completing twenty-one years as an Airman and Missileer, Del transitioned into civilian work at NORAD and USNORTHCOM, where he served until present day, committing thirty-five years of his life to serving his country. He was widely known and respected by national and international partners for his groundbreaking work for the Department of Defense contribution to a whole of government response to catastrophic disaster.  In particular, Del's valuable work improved the nation's ability to respond to save lives within the initial hours and days in the event of a chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear attack on the homeland.

He enjoyed restoring and driving classic cars, target shooting with firearms, hunting with his sons, fishing for bass and trout, and hiking with his wife, Deb. He was best known for wearing his heart on his sleeve for his children.

Del's life was a reflection of his deep, personal relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Delvan is survived by his wife, Debra Wells Wallgren; his children, Amanda (Damian) McGriff, Jared (Chelse) Wallgren, Justin (Maria) Wallgren, Jonathan Wallgren, and Nicholas Wells; his grandchildren, Easton, Viviana, Sienna, Gabriel, Cassiel, and Raylan; and his siblings, Rawn (Julie) Wallgren, Maura (Dennis) Leavitt, and Terri Michels.
