Detlef M. Frey Obituary

Detlef M. Frey passed away on June 12, 2016 after a very long illness which robbed him of his mental

capabilities. He was born January 1962 in Toledo Ohio to Manfred and Ursula Frey. He is survived by his wife Maggie, daughter Julie (Rusty), son Erich, and his parents.

From early on Detlef wanted to be a pilot he

began with cardboard

boxes, moved to gliders and eventually got his private

pilot license, even before he had a driver's license. There was one slight distraction; music. He was a dedicated drummer and founded a band, Myzar, with some friends - but eventually flying won out. After college and ROTC he joined the Air Force Reserve and later flew with Northwest Airlines as a Commercial Pilot. He was flying the B-757 at the time he became disabled.

Detlef was a happy man and never met a person he did not like. He loved to travel especially to Germany where his parents came from. In 1991 he met The love of his life, Maggie, on an airplane, they were married that year in Niagara Falls, NY.
