Diana Aguilar, 55, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, peacefully passed away April 27, 2022 in the Hospice Unit at Penrose Hospital after an extended illness.
She was born July 29, 1966 to Edumenio and Rosemary Aguilar in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Diana attended Roy J. Wasson High School. In 1985, Diana married Jeffrey Mascarenas, and from that union came her two children, Israel and Lenae, who were her pride and joy.
She worked most of her years at a family-run local favorite restaurant, El Taco Rey, "wearing many hats" as a cook and cashier.
Diana lived in Southern California for several years and was actively involved in her local Apostolic assembly. Diana loved the church and the people became her family in California. In 2005, she and her family returned to her hometown of Colorado Springs. Diana loved being a mother/grandmother, cooking/baking, Spanish music, and dancing. Diana's smile and laugh left an imprint on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her father, Edumenio Gilbert Aguilar (2018) and her mother, Rosemary Barela Aguilar (2021).
Diana is survived by her son, Israel James Mascarenas (Zoraida); daughter, Lenae Melissa Diaz; grandchildren, Malea Diaz, Malakai Diaz, Mia Diaz, Maylee Diaz, Mirabella Diaz and Zella Mascarenas; siblings, Edith (Robert) Foster, Danny (Carolina) Aguilar, Louella Aguilar, Judy Allen, Jana (Leaton) Mitchell, and paternal half sibling, Arleen Roacho. She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends whom she loved dearly.
Visitation, 11:00AM-12:00PM, Saturday, May 14, 2022, Funeral Service immediately following, 12:00PM, Heritage Pentecostal Church, 2950 Monica Drive West, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80916.
Graveside Service, 11:00AM, Monday, May 16, 2022, Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expressway, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903.
