Diana Perkins Obituary

May 5, 1953 - Aug. 14, 2007 Diana V. Perkins, 54, passed away in peace at Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs, Colorado surrounded by loving family members on August 14, 2007. Diana was born on May 5, 1953 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Juanito S. and Alicia C. (Cordova) Martinez. She was preceded in death by her son John Joseph Perkins; her beloved parents; one sister, Joanne Martinez; and two brothers, Johnnie Martinez and Donald Martinez. Diana was a culinary aficionado including traditional cooking as well as experimental recipes, loved entering and sometimes winning sweepstakes and drawings, and collecting beanie babies. She was a life-long, true blue and orange Broncos fan. Diana recently retired after 26 years of dedicated U.S. Civil Service, with recognition for outstanding service to the U.S. Air Force. Her highest calling and first love, however, was her family. Diana is survived by her beloved husband, John Perkins; son Larry Espanoza; daughters Petra (Paul) Arrambide and Patrice Perkins; grandchildren Gabriella, Paul, and Alexander Arrambide; sisters Becky Lucero, Mary Ann Vigil, Linda Jimenez; brother Les Martinez; uncle Lloyd Martinez; aunts Ida Cordova, Vangie Benivedez, Mary Quintana, and Natalie Valdevez. A great number of nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly, also survive her. Funeral service will follow inurnment, and will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the Swan-Law Cascade Chapel, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
