Anita Gibson Obituary

Anita Gibson, 73, of Longmont, passed away July 21, 2014 at home surrounded by her family.

She was born December 20, 1940 in Riverside, California to Margaret and Raymond Rodriguez of Temecula, California, where Anita grew up. She was the second of seven children.

She loved helping others, and for years this was apparent in the work she did?working with disabled and mentally handicapped children for the Fairfax County Schools in Virginia. When she was ready to retire in 2008, she moved from Virginia to Longmont, Colorado, living with her eldest daughter and her family.

She loved to live in and travel to many places: California, Kansas, Mexico, New Mexico, Guam, Hong Kong, Virginia & Colorado. She also very much enjoyed reading, painting, crafts & quilting, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Anita is survived by her sisters, Gloria Ellis of Pomona, CA; Sylvia Keefer of Vienna, VA; her two brothers, Stephen Rodriguez of Pomona, CA, and Ruben Rodriguez of Shanghai, China; and her aunt Roe Ruiz (Larry) of Hemet CA. She is also survived by her three children, Teresa Levitt (Frank) of Longmont, CO; Lisa More (Albert) of Clovis, CA; and Marco Mora of Henderson, NV in addition to four granddaughters, Jessica Jensen (Seann), Alexandra Hernandez (Joe), Elizabeth More and Kelsey Levitt, a step-granddaughter, Rachel Cole (Dustin), and a great-grandson, Henry, and two step-great-grandchildren, Kiana and Kaden.

Anita was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret, and her brothers, Raymond and Richard. Cremation has been entrusted to Carroll-Lewellen Funeral & Cremation Services

Dear Teresa, Lisa, Marco, and Sylvia -- I am saddened to hear this news about Anita, and am sorry for your loss.

Although it's been many years since we were all together, she remains a sweet and warm memory for me. I especially appreciate the many holiday cards she remembered to send to our Mom in Kansas, who was always delighted to receive her thoughtful notes.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Anita and I worked together for years at Los Angeles County and became friends. I was so happy when she married my brother and became part of my family. Rest in Peace and say "Hi" to my mom. We will always remember her with love.

I worked with Anita for many years in Va. She loved the children and took great care of them. She was also a good friend. I will remember her through the special apron, pillow cases, pot holders and many hats that she made for me. I wear the hats every winter and I get several compliments. Rest in peace lady. I will see you again in heaven. You always made me laugh. Thanks.

Dear Teri and family, It has been so very long since I have seen Aunt Annie. Saddens me that so much time has passed without staying in touch. When I think of Aunt Annie, I see her as my young cool aunt from the city, in striped bell bottom pants, beautiful dark hair and very sassy. I thought she was beautiful when I was a kid. I'm sure she was even more beautiful inside and out as she grew older.
That is my memory of her and how I will hold her in my heart...
I love you all very much...

To the Gibson family. May God be with your family during this difficult time, only He can give us the strength that we need and is always ready to listen our prayers. Psalm 39:12: “Do hear my prayer and to my cry for help do give ear. At my tears do not keep silent.”
