Dolores Fortelka Obituary

Dolores M. Fortelka (Martz), age 86, of Colorado Springs, CO left us for a brighter 'life' on February 13, 2013 leaving behind her loving children, Debra A. Gates and husband Douglas, Robert J. Fortelka, her "other" daughter and cherished friend, Jan Moore, her beloved 4-legged grandson, Sammy and other close friends. Preceded in death by her mother and father, John and Grace Jeffries of Flushing, MI and ex-husband, Albert F. Fortelka of Colorado Springs, CO. Dolores understood what was important in this world and sought to impart her wisdom by example through her passion for God, family, and love of tradition. Dolores moved to Colorado Springs in 1960 and worked for the El Paso Department of Social Services from 1971 - 1988 where she made many lifelong friends. She loved her library of books and anything about the history of our nation as well always followed the political climates throughout the years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, her beloved cat(s), had an uncanny green thumb and absolutely loved the splendor of the rocky mountains which she enjoyed daily from her patio. Mom was loved by many and will be missed greatly. We want to send a special thank you to Susan Morgan and her dog, Dexter, for their inclusion of our mom into their family and to the entire staff of Parkmoor Village Healthcare Center, the hospice staff of Evercare Hospice, and all of the medical professionals for their loving care of our Mom during these past few years.
