Dolores Manyik Obituary

March 25, 1928 - June 27, 2008 Dolores Manyik, celebrated her 80th birthday on March 25th, 2008. She has lived since 1965 at the family farm North of Calhan, purchased with her husband, Gerald W. Pemberton (deceased). Dolores passed away Friday, June 27, 2008 at her home, due to natural causes. She was born March 25, 1928 in Ramah, Colorado. The first child of the late George and Marie (Sajbel) Hertneky of Ramah. She had three brothers: Harry Hertneky of Burlington, George Hertneky Jr. (deceased) and Kenneth Hertneky of Ramah. Dolores graduated from Ramah High School and completed business school in Colorado Springs. She married Gerald W. Pemberton (deceased), June 29, 1948 in Raton, New Mexico. Five children were born to this marriage. In 1976, she married Mark Manyik in Calhan, Colorado (deceased). She is survived by her five children, Sylvia (Jack) Guernsey of Philadelphia, Sydney (William) Risley of Colorado Springs, Cecilia Pemberton (Brad Chilnick) of Philadelphia, William (Chris) Pemberton of Banks, Oregon and Robert (Debbie) Pemberton of Windsor, Colorado. Eleven grandchildren; Brian (Allison) Guernsey of San Francisco, Scott Linemeyer and fiance Amber of Superior, Colorado, Shanna (John) Addams of Denver, Colorado, Megan (Brian) Buckley of Philadelphia, Stacey Linemeyer of Colorado Springs, Kristen Guernsey of New York City, Kassie and Keely Pemberton of Fort Collins, Colorado, Kaitlin Guernsey of Philadelphia and Blake and Derek Pemberton of Banks, Oregon. Three great-grandchildren: James Blea and Miranda Blea of Colorado Springs and Keiron Buckley of Philadelphia. Two brothers, Harry and Kenneth Hertneky and many nieces and nephews. Dolores loved the farm and her family. For over thirty years she operated the farm north of Calhan by herself and was truly an independent woman. She also had a tax preparation business for twenty-five years. She was active in the Share Program, St. Michaels Catholic Church, a 50 year member in the Elbert County Farm Bureau, the International Pokla Club of Colorado Springs and her Club Group. Memorial donation may be made to the Calhan Town Government Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Service, 725 – 4th Street, Calhan, CO 80808 (719 347-3057). Visitation will be Friday, July 4, 2008 from 2-4 p.m. at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. The Rosary will be said at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 5, 2008 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 547 – 8th Street, Calhan followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial immediately following at Calhan Cemetery, Calhan.
