Dominic Colao Obituary

Dr. Colao and I shared something in 2014- cancer. As I was at my yearly nephrology appointment, we talked about faith and love, devotion and honor... And what it was like to be sick. Dr. Colao told me goodbye earlier this year and also shared with me that my kidney disease would most likely not progress past stage I. He has been treating me since 2002 and he always was so positive, upbeat and had a fantastic
sense of humor. He was kind, compassionate and such a wonderful doctor. He will be missed by many. RIP Dr. Colao.

I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Colao from 2000-2005. I'm so sad to hear of his passing. He was so funny and loved to joke around and talk about hunting and his son and family in general. He will surely be missed.

We will miss our Dr. Colao. His presence always made patients and those who worked along side of him so much more special. Even bringing his humor to many situations which helped us all cope. Rest in peace, Dr. Colao.

I enjoyed working with Dr. Colao. He was a thoughtful and caring person as well as his being an excellent physician. Loved his sense of humor. He always looked so dapper in his bow ties. Such love for his family. He had faith and we would talk about that and I will never forget my conversations with him. I will miss him.

Dear Mrs C and Joe.I am very sorry to hear about Dominic.Some of my fondest and funnest childhood memories was living next door to you on 33rd and Liberty. Dom and you were like my big brothers. I will always remember when you both would come over and sit on my porch and we would all just talk and laugh and youd play football with my brothers. Condolences to the family of Dr. Colao. He will be greatly missed at Grandview Hospital I will miss the conversations we had about family(especially our sons) the Lord. Rest in peace.

I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Colao at DHH and GSH. He was always a pleasure to work with, treated Nurses like equals, always exchanged family stories. He is missed. My heart and prayers are with his family.

Dr. Colao was such a warm, kind hearted doctor, and a pleasure to work with. I worked with him in ICU at GSH. He will be missed. He always had a smile and story to tell. He was so proud of his family. May the Lord comfort his family.

I only met Dr. Colao once this year when I took my 93 year old mother to see him. He was so kind to mother and me and shared that he would soon be starting treatment for his cancer and may not see her next time. Unfortunately, there was no next time as my dear mother passed away in May. We left his office impressed with him and wondering why all doctors can't be like Dr. Colao. I just wanted to share this and my condolences to his family. He will be missed.

I was a patient of Dr. Colao. He was a caring, compassionate and wonderful physician. I will dearly miss him. Sending my deepest sympathy to his wife, son and family. He always spoke highly of his family.

I was a patient of Dr. Colao's for several years after I moved to SW Ohio. He had an incredible bedside manner, warm heart and patient listening ear. Dr Colao was so well respected, as he went about his mission of caring for others with compassion, humor, and the ever-present bow tie. You were never far from his thoughts and he talked about you with obvious love and pride. He is missed by all who were blessed to know him.

Dr. Colao was the best. I've had other nephrologists throughout the years, but he understood the plight and provided insight of expectations. He made the transition to dialysis acceptable with the hope of going on to transplantation. He spoke freely of his illness and concern for leaving his wife and son. He fought the fight. Always prayers for him and for his family. He was a wonderful caring physician and he (and his collection of bow ties) will not be forgotten. Rest in God's loving hands.

It was a great honor to have worked with Dr. Colao, he would brighten each and everyday! His family meant the world to him. He was super intelligent, and caring. Dr. Colao will be dearly missed by all in the office who have had the pleasure of working with him. He had a wonderful wit and never left the office with out thanking the staff for their help. He was crazy about his family! My condolences to his wife and son and all the extended family that he loved so much.

Dr. Colao was a super nice and friendly guy! He would always make us laugh by making silly noises as he typed away on the computer. I remember one time he was printing some pages off and the printer just kept going and going. I joked with him about printing off a "book". He said it was something that him and his son were building together. Not sure what it was, but he seemed super excited to be doing that with his son. We also joked once about height. He just laughed and shook his head at us girls. I will always remember him and will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. God bless

It was a joy to work with Dr.Colao.
He was a very proud father and husband. Talking of the two of them none stop!
He will alway be thought of often. Someone so special can never be forgoten.

To Dr. Colao's family: each time he came to the unit smiles lit up everywhere. Despite his humor and laid back demeanor, we also knew his patients would be cared for expertly. My husband and I truly enjoyed working with him. We are very sorry for your loss and are saddened by his passing. Your family is in our prayers. I so enjoyed having had the opportunity to know Dr.Colao over the years at work. He had great humor and could quote lines out of movies like it was nothing...I've missed seeing him over the past year+ and have thought of him and his family throughout this time. DR C. WAS A WONDERFUL DR. BUT ALSO A GREAT, UNDERSTANDING MAN. I WAS NOT ONLY A PATIENT OF HIS BUT FELT TOWARD HIM AS SOMEONE THAT I COULD GO TO AND TALK. DR C.
