Don Moore Obituary

Don Moore, 77, a lifelong resident of Colorado Springs, CO passed away February 14, 2009 peacefully at home. He was born on December 7, 1931 in Cadiz, Kentucky to Mont and Helen Moore. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Janet Moore (whom he married on December 24, 1950); sons, Michael (Andrea), Timothy, Roman and Donnie Moore; sister, Brenda Brickell; brother, David (Sylvia) Moore; Jill Moore whom he thought of, loved and treated as their own daughter; and special friend, Dwight Baker. Don and Janet have 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and more friends than any-one could hope for. Don retired after 25 years as a Colorado Springs Firefighter. His dedication, caring and loyalty for the community and their safety will long be remembered. His name is, and will be, forever embedded in the history of past and present fellow firefighters. Don, a member of the Pikes Peak Homing Pigeon Club for 58 years, took an interest at a very young age, until this last "racing season". Don was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He made many friends and acquaintances there, especially with God. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to "Dr. Lester Williams" Fire Fighter's Museum or Pikes Peak Hospice. Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2030 West Colorado Ave., Colorado Springs, Colorado 80904. Funeral and Cremation Care of Colorado 930 S. Janet and Brenda,
I think of you several times a day. I was stunned because Don's voice was so strong when I spoke with him. He had a great outlook and appeared to have accepted that God was in control. That is what we all must do each day. My love to you.
